So I was in Science, which is a subject i hate with a pasdion, when my teacher decided to make the lesson more fun. So we sorted through different facts and figured out which were true and which weren't about the human body. Here are a few that I remember....
1. The brain doesn't feel pain: the brain does process pain signals but the brain itself feels no pain.
2. The brain changes shape during puberty; that, I think, is just plain weird to imagine your brain changing shape.
3. Adrenaline gives you super strength; so yes you little daredevils- you really can lift a car!
4. Women are better than men at identifying smells.
5. Your nose can remember 50,000 scents and maybe more!
6. When you eat too much food you don't hear as well as you usually would: When you eat too much it actually reduces your hearing so consider eating healthily or just eating until you're full :D
7. Babies always have blue eyes when they're born: Melanin and exposure to ultraviolet light are needed to bring out the true colour of babies' eyes. Until then they all have blue eyes.
8. You are taller in the morning: throughout the day the cartilage between your bones is compressed making you about 1cm shorter by the end of the day.
9. A quarter of your bones are in your feet: There are 26 bones in each foot, meaning that the 52 bones in account for 25 percent of your body's 206 bones.
10. When you take a step you're using up to 200 muscles: Walking uses a great deal of muscle power.
11. Being right-handed can prolong your life: Not trying to scare the leftys but if you're right-handed you could live up to nine years longer than a left-handed person.
12. Only humans shed emotional tears: Every other being that sheds tears has a physiological reason for doing so.
13. When you sneeze all your body functions stop: Even your heart does and, for me, that is scary.
14. Children grow faster in the Spring.
15. Babies are born with 300 bones but by adulthood we only have 206: where do these bones go?!?
Ok well I hope this isn't too weird or anything but I found it so interesting, which is unusual as it's Science, that I had to share it with you :D
