Nash woke up. It was 10:53. He couldn't sleep. His mind was buzzing with thoughts about this girl he found on the internet. He rubbed his eyes and grabbed his phone. He had received nothing from her all night. Was it ridiculous that he felt something when thinking about her? Was he just being a teenager and getting caught up in the concept of "love". Whatever it was, Nash liked it, and he wanted more of it.
After posting a picture of himself on SnapChat saying "Good Morning", he crawled out of bed and walked downstairs, phone clutched in his right hand. He felt a buzz. He lifted his phone to his face, with a a look of hope on his face.
It was a SnapChat from his best friend, Cameron. Cameron Dallas. Nash stopped walking and slid open his phone and opened the snap. It was a closeup picture of Cameron with the caption "I have awesome news". Nash took a picture of himself and while he was in the process of typing "what is it", his phone started ringing. It was Cameron. Nash released a breath of air that he didn't realize he was holding, and answered the call.
Before Nash could even say anything, he heard his friend speaking on the other end. "Nash, Nash! Oh my god. I have incredible news!" When he said that, Nash remembered the message Shyla wrote to him. Telling him how incredible he was. Nash dazed out for a second, thinking, and Cameron noticed. "Nash? Hey buddy, you there?" Nash shook his head out of his daydreaming. "Yeah, yeah, Cam, I'm here. What's this, uh, great news?" Nash asked, scratching his head. He started walking down the stairs, slowly.
"So remember that journal I was writing?" Cameron asked, quickly. Nash made it to the bottom of the stairs, and turned the corner to his living room. "The one you started on the napkin at the diner?" Cameron laughed. "Yeah! That one." There was a moment where neither one said anything. Cameron broke the silence. "Well, I finished it." Another silence. "And?" Nash questioned. "I turned it into a story of my life!" Cameron said. Nash knew this was cool, but there had to be something else. So, he kept probing for more answers. "That's cool news Cam, but is that it?" Cameron let out his excitement. "I am getting it turned into a book!" No response. "And publishing it!" Still no response. "Nash? Do you realize how big this is?" Cameron asked the mute Nash. "Sorry man, I just have a lot on my mind right now. I'm very proud of you. I really am." Nash really was proud, but something was keeping him from being excited. "I have to, uh, go." Nash said. "Okay, Nash. Okay that's fine. Bye." Nash said bye to his friend and hung up.
Nash was now sitting in the couch and had his phone in his hand. He was hoping for a response from Shyla. Maybe she didn't like Nash like that. Maybe he was being stupid. He looked at his cellphone. His phone read 11:33. He stood up from the sofa, and walked into the kitchen to get something to eat.• • •
Shyla came upstairs after making a sandwich and sat on her bed. She opened her laptop and saw her draft she had written to Nash. She read over her message but was unsure if she should send it. Maybe he only wrote to her because he was being nice. He probably didn't like her like that. I mean, she's just an ordinary girl, and he's, well, he's Nash Grier. "What the hell." She said, after thinking about it for a minute. She hit send and slapped her laptop shut.
Shyla reached for her phone that was sitting on her bed, and opened up her text messages. She was going to write to Greta about what just happened. Hopefully she's out of her funk by now.
Shyla: I wrote back to Nash
Greta: Has he replied yet and sorry about before I was being a dick
Shyla: No he hasn't and it's fine
Greta: Well tell me if he writes back
Shyla: Okay
Shyla double clicked her home-button and cleared the messaging tab.
