My alarm clock screeches in my ear, making me jump from my nest of soft blankets and into a defensive position on the floor, fists ready to swing. By alarm clock, I mean sister, who stands rather innocently at the edge of my bed, her entire body buzzing with energy. She cackles devilishly, jumping up and down in glee as I try to catch my breath, falling limply onto my bed in a huff.
"Don't pout, May! Daddy says you need to get up for training with Jessee so you can be as good as he is, and besides, it's already seven 'o' clock!" her voice gives me a head ache, to be completely honest; so young and whiny, makes me sick.
"Megahn! I have my alarm set!" I growl, attempting to crawl under the blankets again to hide my blush.
Jessee Williams was the future Alpha of the pack, the only child of Alpha John and Luna April. Their story will forever be my dream, to find my mate early and to fall in love as they have. Jessee and I have been friends since we were pups and as we aged, our friendship turned into something more. Our wolves get together well, very well, as well as our human forms. Life is hard when you have to watch your future mate wait for you to catch up in age, but it's going to be okay. My birthday is in weeks and his was only last month, so he won't have to wait forever.
"I'm gonna get Jessee and he can come get you himself. You're too stubborn!" she grumbles, walking to the door quickly.
"I know you are, but what am I?" I yell as she continues down the hall. Siblings, man, why do they have to start everything?
The silence was blissful, allowing me to catch a few more minutes of sleep before two strong arms pick me up bridal style.
"Jessee," I whine as he carries me to the bathroom, "what are you doing?"
He only chuckles as his arms go out from underneath me, leaving me free falling to the floor. My eyes open wide and I let out a gasp, expecting to hit the floor hard, but the pain never comes. Instead, I land in an ice bath, screaming loudly as I haul myself up, flinging myself out of the tub as fast I can manage.
"Why do you have to be such an ass?" I grunt, ringing my brown hair out all over his bare feet.
"Because I can be. Remember I have a higher rank than you?" He always uses that as an excuse to do the dumbest shit you could think of. One time I fell asleep during a game of hide and seek and he tied me to a tree. He left me there all night long, well, until his father sent a search party. We'll just say that he totally had it coming and he got it from his dad, which was a nice show.
He takes me by the hand and pulls me into the bedroom once again, but before he lets go, I tighten my grip and spin around, pushing him up against the wall. I grin as he winces, pulling up on his arm. He lets out a groan,
"Good job, pup. I honestly wasn't expecting that, but..." he suddenly pushes off the wall, jamming against me and forcing me to the floor. He throws his large form on top of me, a ragged breath escaping my lungs. "I bet you weren't expecting that either."
"Psh, no. I totally saw that coming."
He sits up a bit, his legs straddling my hips and his arms on either side of my head, completely caging me beneath him. I shake my head, running my fingers through his blonde hair, messing it up as much as possible. He purrs softly, closing his eyes as he leans into my touch.
"You know, I'm also expecting something else." I smile as he opens his green eyes, tapping my lips suggestively.
Grinning, he leans down and brushes his lips against mine, but the spark I so craved is not present. I suppose that you only get the fireworks when you're already mates?
