*11 Years Prior to the attack at Moonbeam*
I wake up to the birds chirping gleefully outside of my window. Sitting up slowly, I yawn, looking around my room, and staring at the white walls. I know that today is going to be a great day for I am officially turning 13. My wolf had shown itself a full year ago and I still remember the pain in my joints as I had crawled from my bed and fell to the floor. I shifted right in my bedroom, completely destroying my dresser and bedside table and coating the carpet in hair. Of course my parents had been understanding, like they always are. Afterwards my father had trained me for everything and in every subject, leaving me a rather intelligent 12 and half year old.
I sniff the air, my stomach growling loudly as I try my best to smell any sort of food. Frowning, I slip from underneath my covers and walk to my closet, pulling on a t-shirt and cargo shorts. It was odd that I didn't smell anything for normally my mother would make her delicious waffles for my birthday. She didn't cook often, but when she did she cooked enough for the entire pack. I sometimes pondered if she felt as if it is her responsibility to feed her pack and act like their mother due to her position in the pack itself.
My father, Elias Jones, is the Alpha of the Bloodwind pack, North Carolina's largest pack. I don't mean to brag or anything, but my father says one day I will rule this whole pack and my only wish is to be as good of an Alpha as he is. He treats his pack with the same respect he shows the superiors, leaving no one out. He demands at meetings that we vote for decisions, but asks for their permission on rash decisions.
My mother, Elizabeth Jones, is obviously Luna of the Bloodwind pack. She leaves nothing undone no matter the price to her. She loves the pack and even goes into the village on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays to help the people out in any way that she can. My mother is one of those moms that is there for everyone, related or not, and she also says that it is proper Luna and even Alpha material to act as such. Though I think what I admire about her the most is the way she looks up to my father.
Of course the two mates are inseparable, but I feel like they were honestly just met to be put together by the Moon Goddess. My parents were from enemy packs and one night they were each running patrol on their borders. They had passed by each other, apparently locked eyes, and that was it. After their encounter, my father took my mother to his father, which was the Alpha of the New Blood Pack. They had a rather disturbing feud and split up, my father taking his followers and my mother and starting his own pack, birthing the Bloodwind pack.
Over the years, we've gained many and lost few in battles against neighboring packs, somehow finding our way to the top of the food chain. We currently have 567 members total, but soon to be 568 for a younger pair are expecting a new pup soon, and all of our members 12 and older are trained to fight. Many of our enemies think we are monsters, cruel people who only care about ourselves, but in reality, we are really the opposite. I'm proud of what my pack has overcome and that is the end of it.
I look at myself in the full length mirror hanging on my wall and sigh, poking at yet another pimple on the very tip of my nose. I lean forward, popping it easily, and combing my fingers through my brown hair. I stand at about 5'7", broad shoulders, tanned skin, built body, and long limbs. I turn my head, admiring my sharp jawline and exaggerated nose, frowning slightly as I study my eyes.
