"Megan?" I hear my name being called.
"Megan?" I hear again, and I lift my head from my desk and look towards my history teacher.
"Yea?" I ask, my voice rough from sleep.
I get a few laughs from my classmates, and I feel my cheeks burning.
"Name the most populated country in Europe." Ms. Burns says in a high-pitched tone, obviously annoyed.
I look around the classroom, not speaking, and just I as hoped and prayed for, the bell rings, dismissing us from class.
I hurry to grab my backpack and binder, and scurry out of class.
Before I can make it to the door, I hear my name, once again.
I turn around quickly to see my bestfriend, Carly, walking towards me, her binder in hand.
"Sleeping in class, again?" She asks, almost like a parent would.
"I was too busy dreaming about the boys. Hayes asked me to marry him, but then Matt kidnapped me, and just as it was getting good, Ms. Skunkbag had to ruin it." I roll my eyes, shifting my bag to my opposite shoulder.
"Ah i understand now." She says, and we both let out a laugh.
Carly and I are huge Magcon fans. We've never been to Magcon, but we dream about it, literally.
She's a 'Matt girl' and her entire room is covered in pictures printed off the internet.
I'm a 'Hayes girl' and always have been. We are both fifteen, and have the same taste in music, so obviously we were meant for eachother.
We walk out the doors of the front of the school building, looking for Carly's mom's car.
Everyday after school, her mom, Catherine, who I call, Mama C, picks us both up because we live on the same street, in the town of Tampa, Florida.
That's how Carly and I became friends, she was new on the street, and my dad introduced ourselves to our new neighbors, and ever since then, we hit it off.
Playdate after playdate, sleepover after sleepover, now were both fifteen, and freshman in highschool.
A honk is heard from a parking lot across the street, and Carly and I both skip off to the car, fangirling over Shawn's newest selfie.
"Have you seen his jawline?" Carly shrieks.
"I know right, It could cut an apple." I reply, as we open the car doors to her mom's Suburu.
"Mom can you put in the Handwritten CD?" Carly yells at her mom over the blaring country music.
She nodds, and turns on the song 'Air' and we all jam out on the way to their house.
The car is parked in their huge garage, and we get out and walk inside the largest house on the block.
Carly and her family have always had good money.
Her mom is a nurse, and her Dad owns his own publishing company.
My family is a little different.
My Dad works at a grocery store here in Tampa, and my mom passed away a few years back.
I have a seven year old brother named Dylan, and we manage to make it work some how.
Two packages of gushers are placed in front of Carly and I, and we eat the package while scrolling down our instagram feed.
"So, Megan, what do you want for your birthday?" Carly asks, elbowing me playfully.
My birthday is in two weeks, and Carly asks me every chance she gets.
Honestly, I don't want anything. Her family does way too much for me, and I couldn't take anything else.
"Nothing, I already told you that." I reply, eating a blue gusher.
"Come on Meg, there has to be something you want." She says, exaggerating the 'some.'
"Well, I want to meet Hayes." I state, and she smiles.
"Don't we all."
I shrug at her reply, knowing it's true.
"If you don't tell me something, then i'm just gonna get you a pair of socks." She says, laughing.
"A pair of socks sounds great." I laugh, and we continue eating our gushers, and checking our insta feed.
