Yoongi loved Jimin. Jimin loved Yoongi. But somewhere along the line the two of them had lost one another. Instead of Jimin, Yoongi smiled at someone else. Instead of Jimin, Yoongi kissed someone else. Instead of Jimin, Yoongi made love with someone else. Instead of Jimin, Yoongi loved someone else.

Maybe it had happened during all the time he had spent away from Jimin in the recording studio. Maybe it had happened during all the time Jimin had spent away from Yoongi in the dance studio.

Or maybe it had just happened.

The worst things was that Jimin still stayed by Yoongi's side. Jimin waited for him to come home every single night, even though he knew Yoongi was with someone else. Jimin only had eyes for Yoongi even though he knew Yoongi was looking at another. Jimin still called Yoongi every evening to check in with him, he still texted Yoongi throughout the day just to bring a smile to his face but Jimin could see it was starting to wear thin. Yoongi didn’t hold him like he used to. Yoongi didn’t kiss him like he used – Jimin couldn’t even remember the last time Yoongi had told him that he loved him. And it hurt. It hurt a lot.

Today was just like any other day; Yoongi went to work in the morning, to record in the afternoon and came home late in the evening, ready to sneak into bed where no doubt Jimin had fallen asleep waiting up for him.
Today was different from every other day; Yoongi came home to Jimin sitting at the dining table, his chin resting on his hands while deep in thought. He looked up at the sound of Yoongi coming through the door. Jimin pierced him with a withering stare. Yoongi threw him a nervous smile, which Jimin didn't return and it only unsettled him more. He always knew what Jimin was thinking but right now, in this very moment, he unsure of what was going through Jimin's mind. Jimin pointed at the seat opposite him, not saying a single word but his quietness was speaking volumes. Yoongi, shocked at the authority and determination in Jimin's stare, listened dutifully and sat across him.

A few tense and awkward minutes, at least on Yoongi's behalf, passed before Jimin opened his mouth and spoke for the first time that night.“I want to stop playing around. We both know what’s going. I just want to know why?” Jimin said in an eerily calm voice, looking directly and unwaveringly into Yoongi's eyes. Yoongi sat there silently with his heart in his throat. He'd never expected to have this kind of conversation with Jimin of all people. Jimin was so understanding and kind that Yoongi would have never thought he would confront him – no matter how bad things got. Obviously Yoongi had been wrong on that account...

When Yoongi didn’t answer Jimin carried on. “You would lie to my face and go to see him. Was I that horrible to you that you had to run into another man’s arms? You would go kiss him and then come back to me. Was I really worth that little to you?” he asked growing increasingly angry.

Yoongi had never seen this side of Jimin and quite frankly he didn't even know it existed. Yoongi finally appreciated that he had taken full advantage of this kind natured man who loved him unconditionally and wholeheartedly and now, to put it mildly, it was coming back to bite him in the ass. Yoongi swallowed, trying to suppress swallow the lump in his throat that was making it impossible to speak.

“I-I’m sorry Jimin, I don’t have an exact reason for why it started but it did. I don't know... He used to dance, you know? Maybe he reminded me of you... He raps now and I met him through some mutual acquaintances... I wish I could take it back... I’m so sorry...” Yoongi whispered brokenly as he looked at the table. Yoongi was scared to look up, to look into Jimin's eyes, to see how much Jimin hated him, to see how much Jimin hurt – all because of him.

Yoongi was startled out of his thoughts when Jimin suddenly banged his fist on the table. Yoongi looked up at him and only then noticed that tears were streaming down his face. It finally hit him how much he'd hurt Jimin and how even now, so close to the end, he was doing nothing but breaking Jimin's heart because of his selfishness. How he'd toyed with someone’s heart because of his own pathetic selfishness.

“I can’t do this anymore. I’m tired of pretending that it doesn’t bother me when it breaks my heart every second I look at you. I’m tired of pretending I’m fine every day when all I wanna do is just break down. I’m tired of it all.” Jimin said in a defeated voice though the steely resolve in his eyes hadn't wavered one bit.

“I’m so, so sorry…” Yoongi whispered again. There was nothing else he could say.

“I can’t anymore. I want you to leave and never come back. I don’t want to see you ever again.” Jimin told Yoongi firmly as he wiped the last of his tears away with the back of his hand. Jimin got up, walked around the table and held the door open for Yoongi. Yoongi simply nodded and got up, too ashamed to say a word, let alone look Jimin in the eyes. Yoongi was lucky since he knew he deserved much worse than Jimin was giving him. Yoongi was the lowest of the low- a cheater.

As Yoongi walked past him, Jimin grabbed his shoulder and turned him around. Yoongi saw that Jimin's handsome face was ugly and twisted with pain, with heartache, and it hurt him to know that he was the one that caused it. It hurt Yoongi to know that this would be his last memory of Jimin.

He'd never for much... He'd only ever asked Yoongi to look only at him.

Only him.

“Just promise me that you’ll stay true to him… I wouldn’t wish this pain on my worst enemy so please just stay true to him…” he told Yoongi in a low voice before he let him go. Yoongi nodded and then crossed the threshold of the house he'd shared with Jimin, the sound of the door closing behind him echoing into the night.
