Chapter 3.2 – The Seatmate

For the most part, the ride was really fun.

Matagal ang 6 hours kung tutuusin, pero ‘pag may kakwentuhan ka, mabilis lang pala.

Hindi ko alam, pero magaan ang loob k okay Andrei. Masaya siya kausap, lagi siyang naka-smile, tapos sobrang lakas ng sense of humor niya.

After namin kumain, nagkwentuhan lang kami.

“So, kamusta yung food?” tanong ko.

“It’s great! Delicious,” sabi niya.

“Weh,” sabi ko.

Hindi kasi ako naniniwala, kasi sa panlasa ko, medyo maalat yung fish. Or is it just me?

Tumawa siya.

“Alright, alright, it’s good, really. But the thing is, the fish was kind of salty,” sbai ni Andrei.

“Sabi na nga ba eh. Akala ko di mo mapapansin, pero who was I kidding, chef ka nga pala!” sabi ko.

Tapos tumawa kami pareho.

“I’m bored,” sabi ni Andrei after a few minutes of silence.

Hindi ko alam kung anong isasagot ko, so inabot ko sa kanya yung isang ear ng earphones ko tapos nagpatugtog.

Pagktapos nung kanta, nagkatinginan ulit kami tapos tumawa.

“You like that band?” sabi ni Andrei.

“Of course! The vocalist is ridiculously handsome,” sagot ko.

“Now I’m questioning your taste in music. You like them because the vocalist is “ridiculously handsome”?” sbai ni Andrei, na nag-gesture pa ng quotation marks.

“No! I like their music, and their looks is just a bonus,” pagtanggi ko.

Tapos ngumiti siya ng nakakaloko. Labas yung dimples.

“Really? How about Coldplay? Ed Sheeran? The Fray? The Script? Lana Del Rey?” sunod-sunod na tanong ni Andrei.

“Yes to all of that, no to Lana Del Rey. I’m really attracted to Chris Martin, no kidding. Pati yung vocalist ng The Fray, pati si Danny, and of course, I am in love with Ed Sheeran,” sabi ko.

“Why don’t you like Lana Del Rey?!” sabi ni Andrei.

“She’s..I don’t know..weird,” sabi ko.

“But she’s hot!” sabi ni Andrei.

Tumaas ang kilay ko.

“Sino satin ngayon ang may gusto dahil sa looks?”

Tapos tumawa kami.

Ganun lang ang nangyari sa buong byahe. Basically, nagtanungan kami ng mga type naming musicians, mga basic life questions like, ‘How do you see yourself ten years from now?’, ‘What do you think of same-sex marriage?’

And basically, we found out we liked the same stuff, and has different opinions on some things, although medyo same kami sa karamihan..

And by the end of the trip, we exchanged numbers, and told each other that we’ll see each other soon.

That’s how I gained a new friend.
