With Peter next to me, we make our way down the streets of Queens. We pass a few little shops, and the bank, before crossing the street over to the small, corner, sandwich shop Peter had been talking about earlier.
As we walk in the shop Peter holds the door open for me to enter first, and I hear a voice of a man behind me, "Hey, Mr. Parker! Who's your lady friend?" he yells over to us.
I turn to look at Peter to see his cheeks go bright red. Seeing that Peter seems preoccupied, I take a step closer to the counter and introduce myself, "Hello, my name's Y/n!" I try to say the words as clearly as possible, but stumble over them a bit.
Mr. Delmar laughs, "Me gusta tu nueva novia, Peter. Parece muy dulce. Pero, ¿esta bien?"
If it's even possible Peter turns even redder, stuttering over his words, "Ella no es mi novia y tiene resaca."
"Tengo una ligera resaca, no soy estùpido, puedo hablar por mí mismo." I cut in.
They both looked at me shocked, surprised at my understanding of their conversation and my fluency in speaking Spanish. Every time I speak in Spanish it surprises people, because of the fact that I was homeschooled. I wasn't raised by idiots, but some of the smartest people on Earth. Most of the people my father had hired to teach me also spoke Spanish, so after a while I started to pick it up, and so did most of the Avengers.
"¡Guau! Estoy muy impresionado. ¿Dónde aprendiste a hablar español tan bien?" Mr. Delmar asked me enthusiastically.
"He recibido educación en casa toda mi vida, así que suelo aprender mucho más. Mi padre habla español con fluidez, lo aprendió de sus niñeras, y yo lo aprendí de él. También sé un poco de ruso gracias a Na...mi tía," I responded.
Peter still looks at me shocked, taking a moment to register all the new information I just gave the two of them. Mr. Delmar continues to converse with me, "¡Increíble! Me parece importantísimo saber más de un idioma. Dime, sinceramente, ¿Peter es tu novio? ¿Te ha tratado bien?"
I laugh at Mr. Delmar's questions as Peter blushes, "¡Señor Delmar! ¡Para! ¡Solo somos amigos!"
"Sí. Peter no es mi novio, pero es mi mejor amigo y ha sido muy amable conmigo. Es increíble tenerlo como amigo." I continue.
Yeah...friends.
We're just friends.
It's no longer quiet as Peter clears his throat, "Anyways, can we order now, please?" he asks Mr. Delmar, his face still having a reddish tint from the earlier conversation.
"Of course, Mr. Parker. Your usual? The number 5 with the pickles smushed down?" Mr. Delmar asks, starting to turn around to start making the sandwich.
"Yes, please."
Mr. Delmar turns back around for a second and smiles, turning towards me, "Great. And what would you like, dear?"
"I-I'll have the same thing too please... but you don't have to smoosh it." I laugh a little."
"Of course, coming right up!"

Peter and I walk out of the small shop, holding our sandwiches. Peter paid for the both of us, despite my pleads. We start heading back the same way we came to 'my' apartment.
It's quiet as we walk next to each other on the sidewalk. I'm stuck with the thoughts in my head.
Why did Mr. Delmar think Peter and I were a thing?
