Inalalayan ako ni Sadam bumaba. His hand lingered on my waist longer than necessary.
"Mr. Montediajo..." bati ni Daddy, nanginginig ang boses.
Hinarap ko si Daddy. "Dad... totoo ba? Totoo ba na ibinigay mo ako sa kanya bilang kabayaran?"
Yumuko si Daddy at hindi makatingin sa akin. Ang katahimikan niya ang sumagot sa lahat.
Naluha ako. "Paano niyo nagawa sa akin 'to?"
"Laura, anak... wala na kaming choice," hagulgol ni Mommy.
"She knows," putol ni Sadam sa kadramahan. Naglakad siya palapit kay Daddy at tinapik ito sa balikat. The gesture looked friendly but there was a threat underneath. "Prepare her things. I'm taking her tonight."
"T-Tonight?!" sabay na sigaw namin ni Mommy.
Sadam looked at me, a predator eyeing his prey. "Yes. Sa mansyon ko siya titira hanggang sa araw ng kasal. I need to make sure my investment is safe."
