Thanks to the lovely @DreamAngel6 for her contribution of Jessica's point of view to the story. Everyone go follow and read her stuff, she's wonderful.
There is always a defining moment in your life that causes you to be insecure, everyone is insecure about something. It changes you and shapes you and it becomes part of who you are, it's sometimes un-escapable. That's the reason I'm here, I just recently moved to L.A., I wanted to get a fresh start and pursue my singing career, and this is definitely the town to launch my career. It's so vibrant and full of opportunity. However there is a down side to this wonderful town... the men. Everyone wants to pursue a hook-up instead of a romance and I'm not that kind of girl. I take things slow. I get it, I'm not going to be dishonest, I am an attractive woman, that makes me sound conceited but I'm not going to put myself down. I just need these guys to leave me alone, it's nearly impossible to trust any of them. The good-looking guys I would like to be attracted to have terrible personalities and are very blunt because they know they can get what they want. The average looking guys use the cheesy pick-up lines which get a laugh out of me at best. I want to be treated like I deserve to be treated, I have more confidence and respect for myself than for some one night stand in L.A. to never be called again. I am an independent woman who is just trying to live my dream and sing. I also scored a sweet gig in the meantime at the corner bookstore, reading is another passion of mine and at my job my boss is the best. I get to write songs when I'm not busy helping a customer and it's across the street from this bar which I heard has the best selection of whiskey in town. I am going to have to try it sometime.
