CHAPTER 30

His lips are a touch of bliss.

The cold night that has been chilling my shoulders is engulfed by the heat embracing me like a sheer blanket, and all my thoughts, worries, anxiety, and the all-around catastrophe of a night get swallowed up by the incomprehensible softness of Aiden's lips.

I did not think he had it in him.

To have this delicate, soothing part of himself has been caring around, but as soon as those pink lips trace mine—the whole world disappears.

And I'm floating.

The moment is suspended in a dense mist until everything disappears around us. My ears ring, my pulse stops beating in my chest, and I think I'm going to faint.

I've imagined this so many times before—after that moment in the abandoned building we had—more times than I'd ever admit and it's usually late at night, tucked safely beneath my duvet, where dreams are allowed to stay dreams. Where those dreams evaporate with the morning light, this, however—this isn't disappearing.

—Because this is reality.

Then the actuality reaches over me like a puddle when I feel Aiden's hand seizing the back of my head, grabbing a fistful of my hair. I gasp at the sensation, and Aiden confiscates the moment by giving me an even deeper burning open-mouth kiss—his lips circle mine wholeheartedly, and I'm so in the depth of my mind that I have a difficult time comprehending anything at the moment.

I can only think of him.

Smell him.

Feel him.

Just. . .touch him.

I claw at his shoulders, his leather jacket squeaking beneath my tight grip, and I kiss him back with enough ferocity rivaling his. I choke on a breathless moan as Aiden roughly tilts over me, causing my back to arch, and grabs the back of my baked thighs.

He tugs me up, and I grab support by wrapping my legs around his waist.

My back is slammed against a concrete wall, and my gasp gets swallowed up by Aiden's mouth.

I wrap my arms around his neck impossibly taut—afraid he will vanish on me and that this all is just another one of my imaginations. The sounds of our lips touching echo through the alley, the breathless breathing and clothes scraping against each other, and I never want this to end.

Then I feel Aiden's wet, warm tongue against mine, and I jerk back against the wall

"Open, Mia," Aiden breathes rapidly between messy kisses. "Open for me."

I open my mouth and his tongue slides in with ease, coiling and intertwining with my own. The sounds are wet and messy, and our breaths form a damp mist around us.

I just want to claw at him, reach deep and live beneath his skin—where he can't hurt me, where he only can keep me safe and protected. Where we'd both just live in peace, in a harmony Aiden desperately requires.

I cannot stop the sounds from escaping my mouth. He's just doing me that good.

I grip the waves of his hair, wanting—needing to bring him closer to me. He complies in a low growl, pressing his entire body to mine—crushing us both to the wall.

He takes like mint and smoke and overall male, and I just want him all over me now.

His hand finds the curve of my jaw, his thumb caressing below my cheekbone as though he's dreading I'll vanish—his other hand grips my thigh in an iron clasp, squeezing it once before trailing upward. His fingers brush the curve of my waist, where the hem of the dress has risen.
