"So when did you- you know- fall in love with her?" Thomas smirked, knowing he had him right where I wanted him, with his head in Fionaland.
"Woah," Newt defeated with his hands up, "What?"
"I may be slow to getting to know things around here, but...

Tommy hesitated. Even if it was only a few seconds, it was there. His gun was raised and one eye open, but he didn't pull the trigger. His hesitation was the difference between the life and death of Ava Paige. I tackled him away from the center of the hallway before Janson shot him from the opposite direction.
"Minho!" I screamed, now running. Praying on those survival instincts that defined him would get him back to us.
All bets were off now. The flare had chipped away at my consciousness. Things were easy now. Simpler. The only things that stood in front of me were life and death. Minho's life and my death. Anyone who stood in my way chose death.
"Freeze!" A man made his last words before I gunned him down.
"Minho!" Thomas screamed, turning around and firing several shots on those who followed us. "Minho, where are you?"
"Shuck!" Thomas swore, sweat dripping down his face.
He had to make it out. This was my suicide mission, not his. I was the only martyr.
"Thomas, you have to get out of here!" I begged, knowing he wouldn't agree,
He ignored my words completely, pulling me down behind the one wall that didn't have deadly bullets coming from it.
"I'm almost out." He told me, before firing what was likely the last of his ammunition.
My two favorite people in the world were also the most stubborn. Fiona's stubborn ass took the first chance out of here. Away from me, more accurately. I wanted to be annoyed, but I was overjoyed that she was safe from WCKD's grasp. Jorge would protect her, and Tommy could explain my death. Gally would keep her sane and maybe one day, make her very happy. She deserved happiness above all else.
I slid on my knees to the unconscious WCKD guard a couple of meters from us. I find a contraption the size of my fist on his belt. I didn't know what exactly it was, but I could be sure it wasn't a pocket full of rainbows. I pressed the button on top and threw it in the direction we came. "Get back!"
There was no time for gratitude or relief, because that only bought us a minute or so.
Running was all we could do. Same boys, different maze. At this point, a way out was just as valuable as Minho. We couldn't fight the WCKD security off forever. We turned the corner and found neither. One guard barked orders at the end of the corridor. His gun jumped back and forth, "Get down on the ground. Now!"
I couldn't move. We were out of firepower, places to search, and time. It was either die here or die behind us.
"I said get your-"
A battle cry I'd never forget rang true. He ran so fast I don't think the guard ever saw him coming. All one hundred and eighty pounds of pure Minho muscle slammed into the guard, his body mercilessly hitting the wall and crumbling.
