Plagues (a mess of a concept for a dystopian)

Okay so this is a fucking mess. I wrote this last year (i dont remember the prompt) and my ideas were just too big for such little time. I ended up going over the word count and only having random scenes that barely connect to show for. I do like where it was going, but its barely understandable.

This is the note i wrote at the top of the google doc when i turned it in: "I would just like to pretense that if I had more time and unlimited words this would make more sense and be better I promise. This is more of a draft/ concept/ bones of a story but hopefully it at least looks like it could be a good complete story someday. It takes place over many years, more than a decade probably, so some of the jumps might be jarring. I'm sorry (to myself, [my teacher's name] and the class that has to read this), you can read it now."

   Plagues

"I don't know, Chris, what if the droid's anti violence code intercepts it?" Jerry Nguyen was Chris's best friend. He was also way too young to be in the fighter droid scene. Then again it was illegal anyways, so the legality of him coding a fighter application for his mother's house droid when she was out of the house wasn't affected by his being 17 years old.

"Then we wasted 3 hours of our time, who cares?" Chris said as he watched his friend pop the chip into the droid's skull. "But why would ours get intercepted and not a handler's?"

Jerry rolled his eyes as he flipped the panel back up, "because we coded it ourselves instead of buying it off a handler?"

"Well how do you expect to be betted on if you just buy it off another handler, huh? You gotta have some originality. Next step is making our own droid," Chris pointed towards the on button, his eyebrow raised with excitement.

"Do the honors" Jerry took a step back and crossed his arms.

Chris pressed the button, giddy, he took a step back too.

The droid stood up, eyes light to make those around it aware of it being awake.

The Nguyen's house droid was a black Samsung Ro-Butler 5, mover addition. When Mr. Nguyen first got it for his wife after they had just moved to their current home-an 85 year old 5 bedroom built by a window nook enthusiast in the 2000s-and he didn't want her to have to carry heavy boxes or move furniture with only the help of her ten year old while he was busy at work since she was pregnant with Jerry's younger sister. So he paid a little extra for one that could carry furniture and other heavy things for all your home maintenance needs. The droid was human-like in shape, though shorter and slimmer, somewhat alien looking. Its "eyes" were two light up cartoonish rings where its eyes would be if it was a person. It actually saw with the camera at the top of his head.

"We just- we just give it an order right?" Jerry asked.

Instead of answering Chris simply said, "beat that," while pointing at a punching stand in the corner of the empty garage (empty all except for storage, balls, bikes and scooters.)

"Request denied– my programming refrains me from complying with any violent request," Jerry and Chris were already used to how human her voice was, "if you make two more violent or illegal requests, my manufacturer or in some cases the police will be contacted."

Chris cursed, and Jerry sighed as he pressed the on/off button.

"Well we just wasted three hours of our life" Jerry sighed.

"Another three to go" Chris responded, walking behind the bot and flipping up the panel to take out the chip.

"I hate the sun," Jerry said as he met Chris outside of the church. Chris was glad his parents were out of ear shot or he'd have to hear hate is a strong word for one of god's creations. He was rolling his eyes in his head at the thought.
