chapter 3

I woke up , I felt a cool breeze, it was about 4 to 5 in the morning , I get up and look around. I notice my window open , I don't remember having it open. I close it , lock it and look around my room for any suspicious movements. Everything was in its place , but there was this scent in the air , I don't notice it, its an unusual scent. I lay back down, close my eyes.

April opens my door and says, " wake up , time for schoo..." She stop, and starts to smell, " whats that horrible smell jason?" I reply, " i dont know , i got up last night and my window was open." She states,while covering her nose," well you should do some about they smell." She closes my door.  I get up , I look at the window , its still close. I get up , go to the restroom, junp in the shower, and start thinking, " did i leave the window open?", "Is there someone watching me ?", I get out the shower, turn off the water , put some clothes on, brush my teeth, rinse my mouth, and go down stairs, April is waiting for me at the door like always. As where about to close the door, mom yells out, " Have a good day!".

As were walking to school , April mentions laughing , " You smell better " I reply, " I didn't smell like that , I think someone snuck in my room while I slept," she replys, " that's weird , who could it be?" I reply, " I don't know, I didn't recordnize the smell," April adds," me neither ". We get to school, April head to her class, I go upstairs , I see Marcus holding down Jessica, Jessica is struggling to try to get away. I grab Marcus and pull him off. I go up to Jessica, " Are you ok ? " as Jessica was about to answer , I read Marcus mind and I ducked , Marcus swinged , I stood back up, Marcus swung , I grabbed his hand, twisted it, he fell to his knees, telling me to stop, Jessica reached over to my shoulder and told me to stop, I let him go, I turn to Jessica, " Are you ok? " she replys, " Yes, just I don't know what got in to him, he's never done that." I ask, " what was he trying to do ?" She replies, " He wanted a kiss, but i kept pushing him away." I add, " your wrist , there red, he was gripping you hard." She added," Wow! I didn't even notice that, but I'll be fine." I turn around ready to swing at Marcus , but he's no longer there. I look around and nothing. I turn back to Jessica , I grab her hand , " let's go Jessica , we gotta get to class." We walk in together , " Tardy!!" The teacher yells out at us. Everyone looks at us , I can read there minds, " are they together ?", " there cute together" , " dam, I wonder what for lunch?" But still I try to read Jessica's mind, and nothing, its blank . We sit down, Jessica looks at me and smiles, I smile back. Mr.Ramirez walks towards us and puts a detention slip on Jessica's and my desk. Time goes by and the bell rings. We stand up , and I ask , " is it ok if we walk to lunch together ?." She reply with a smile, " I would love that!" , where walking out the class , and I see April walking toward us. April says," hey Jason, whose this?" , I reply, " This is Jessica, Jessica, this is April, my sister." Jessica smiles and says," Hi, I love you hair" April reply, " Thanks you, would you like to join us for lunch ? " Jessica reply," Yes, if you don't mind."

We walk into the lunch room, we get in line, I read April's mind, " I can't , I try and try and try, I can't even make her turn around! We have to ask dad why Jason." I look at April and nod up and down.

We get our lunch , and go sit down, I catch Jessica staring at me and april , I ask, " is there something wrong ?" She reply " No, yall are just so pale. Tell me, where are y'all from?" I laugh and say, " where from calorado" she smile, " I hear it gets below freezing out there " April replies laughing, " well you can say , where coldblooded." We all laugh.
* The bell rings

Jessica and I walk to gym together, we say bye to April . we get to the gym and separate , she goes to the girl locker room, and I go to the boys locker room. I get in and put on the shorts and the gray T. I walk out the locker room, and go to my spot. Its the same routine , stretch, push-ups, jumping-jacks, and walk for 15 minutes. I get up and start walking. Jessica comes up behind me and holds my hand, I smile and keep walking. She asks," So you don't talk to many people , why?" I reply," Well I dont really know how to start a conversation. " she adds, " I know what you mean. I didn't know what else to say the first time we talked. " I laugh, " awww , I was nervous to say anything at all." We both laugh. The 15 minutes pass. We go and sit down on our spot. The rest of the day goes by fast . I see April , we head home.

I go to my dads office , I knock on the door, he says," come in!" I open the door, I sit down on his office chairs. He asks , " Is there something wrong ?" I reply, " No, well I hope not, its just I want to ask you something." He replies," well what is it ?" I explain, " Well you see , that girl I was talking about." He interrupts  , " Jessica ? " I continue, " Yea , her.", he asks," well what about her?" I reply," well I can't read her mind, and I thought it was just me, but even April can't control her with her mind." Dad asks, " wait, so what your trying to say is that, yall's powers don't work on her?" I reply," Yea, the more we try, nothing happens." Dad says," Come with me Jason." He rushes to the basement, he searches for some book. I ask, " is there something wrong? " he doesn't reply. He find the book, he pulls it from the shelf, and puts it on the table. The book is old and dusty, it reads, The Mysteries Of The Unknown . he quickly opens it up and starts rapedly  flipping  page after page. Finally he stops. He picks up the book, he says in shock, " No its can't be." I ask , " what does it say?" He closes the book, places it on the table and says.
