Some people say there's such thing as love at first sight. If you would have told this to him, he would have laugh in your face. Some people may have had the urge to punch him in the face and may have acted on that urge for love meant so much to so many people. Love was just a four letter word to him that gave people the excuse to act out irresponsibly, all in the name of love.

The thing was, love at first sight is just a misunderstanding of your mind. Your mind thought it was in love when in reality, it wasn't anything at all. You can't fall in love with someone from the first time you saw them. It was just a glimpse. What if you hated how the person talked? What if you hated how the person ate? What if you hated how the person picked their nose in public? You have to think about these things or else you're just going to get hurt.

That was going on through his head right now. He didn't believe in love at first sight but what if he believed in like... at first sight?

And that was why he was at room 318 the next day, trying to get himself to knock.

Just do it already, he thought to himself. But what if she didn't answer? Worse yet, what if she answered but shut the door right after, not letting him in?

He knocked.

He waited.

He knocked again.

He waited again.

He knocked something that didn't feel like the wood of a door.

"Oh man, are you okay?"

She was rubbing her forehead, the spot where he accidentally hit. Momentarily, someone else's face flashed in her mind, someone who did that to her all the time but not on accident. On purpose.

Squishing tears out of her eyes, she said, "no, no, it's all good."

"Good."

They stood there, not knowing what to do. He stared at the bruise that was slowly forming on her forehead and she was starting at his shoes.

Ratty old Addidas.

"Uh, do you want to-"

"Can I-"

"-Come in?" They finished at the same time. He blushed while she smiled.

"Sure, come on in."

She knew she shouldn't let him in, he could be a murderer for all she knew. But he fascinated her to no end and she wanted to learn more about the boy with thunder in his voice and lightning in his eyes.
