There you lay, staring up at the ceiling, revisiting the same damn question you've been asking yourself for days now.

You're still trying to decipher Chan's cryptic message. That singular emoji sitting in your phone and mocking you like a five-year-old bragging about a juicy secret they won't share. It's maddening.

On one hand, you're glad your mind is preoccupied with this over less savory things, but you're also a curious person at heart. Maybe that was his intention though? Maybe he knows you needed something else for your mind to focus on so you can avoid the darker corners of your psyche. Namely, that mental box of broken pieces still sitting off to the side untouched.

You sigh.

Having finished work for the day, you have a little bit of time on your hands before you should start cooking dinner. Which explains your current state of being. On the couch, listless.

Making a snap decision, you roll over and scoop up your phone to send a text.

Admittedly, you feel bad for not reaching out sooner given how your guy's last interaction went. But you imagine they were just as busy as you. Not that you were in the best place mentally to be reaching out last week. Like you told Nim before, you needed time to avoid it all.

Now you feel a little more grounded, having gotten a chance to map out some of the new recesses of your unfamiliar mind. You're not over the memory by any stretch and you imagine the boys are at a similar stage, so this only feels right now.

As expected, you get an answer back within minutes.

You send back a quick: "Thank you. Hope things go well. Take care of yourselves and tell the boys I said hi ❤️". And then switch over to your chat with Hyunjin once you get a thumbs up back.

It takes you a second to gather the courage though. This is another person you should've checked in on sooner.

You remember how he clung to you at that restaurant. Watched over you and gave you a metaphorical and literal hand to hold while you battled the overwhelming darkness you were thrust into.

Emotional people like you and him digest experiences like the one back in L.A differently than normal people. And without anywhere to channel or purge those strong feelings, you're left to drown in a sea of your own making.

So your text to Hyunjin is short and sweet. Well...more sweet than short.
