Ch.16: Finally

Zoe's POV:

We had made it! We had finally reached the temple where Axel would become the oracle. I had to admit the temple was beautiful. It was in ruins but it was beautiful.

"Nice isn't it." Axel says.

"Yeah it really is."

"It's alright." Charlie says still grumpy about missing Meredith's birthday a couple days ago.

"Oh stop Mr. Grumpy Pants." Rachael says coming up behind us. Kyle soon followed.

"Let's get this show on the road." Kyle said.

"Ya okay." Axel says.

"How does this work?" I ask.

"Well, Apollo should arriv-" He was caught of as We Will Rock You started playing. As always Apollo made his big entrance.

"Sup bros." He said taking off his sunglasses.

"We are ready to transfer the oracle from Rachael to Axel." I say. Apollo nods thoughtfully.

"Let's begin" Apollo says.

Axel and Rachael grab hands as Apollo starts to chant a prayer. Rachael's mouth opens and green mist starts to come out. The mist moves to Axel and it looks as if he is obsorbing it. Apollo goes silent and Rachael and Axel drop to the floor. It was done. We had finally done it.

Meredith's POV:

I was sitting in the Aphrodite cabin getting all dolled up for the dance tonight. I was meeting Alex there. Ellie was trying to keep my spirits high but I was still bummed out about Charlie.

"Alright your hair and make up are done," Ginger says smiling at me. I looks up to the mirror and barely recognize myself. I had a light pink eye shadow and a bit of blush. I was wearing light pink lip gloss. My hair was curled in ringlets.

"It looks amazing." I say.

"OMG you look gorgeous Mere." Ellie says coming in wearing a strapless navy dress and a necklace made of diamonds.

"Thanks El." She gives me a hug.

"Okay now go get your dress." Ginger says.

I walked to the closet and picked out my pale pink dress. It had a white Peter Pan  collar. It came about mid thigh. I put it on and then walked back into the main room. Ellie wiped fake tears.

"My baby girl is growing up!"

"We should head out. Don't want to keep Alex waiting." Ellie said winking. I smiled at my strange friend as we walked out saying bye to Ginger.

We met Argus at the hill and got into the camp van. We arrived st the school a little while later. I saw Alex standing there with flowers. I smiled slightly. I got out of the car and Ellie followed.

"You look beautiful. These are for you." Alex said handing me the flowers.

"Thank you. You wanna go in?" I asked gesturing toward the gym.

"Sure" he says taking my hand as we walk in.

We havent even walked inside the gym yet when we heard the music. As we walked in I saw all of the kids dancing. The decorations were actually really nice compared to other school events.

"Let's dance." I say dragging Alex behind me.

In the background I see Ellie meeting some boy. He offered her his hand and she giggled. Of course.

About a half hour later...

Alex and I had danced until our feet felt like mush. Then we sat down next to Ellie and her "date" and drank punch.

"Oh hi Mere, hi Alex!" Ellie giggled. "This is TJ."

"Hi TJ," I answered and gave a little wave.

"TJ's new this year and doesn't know anyone." Ellie said. Then she leaned over and whispered to me, "He's an Abercrombie model!"

I laughed at how excited Ellie seemed. "I can tell," I whispered back.

Just then a slow song came on. TJ took Ellie's hand and they walked to the dance floor. Alex then turned to me.

"May I have this dance?"

"Yes you may." I smile standing up.

It was actually one of the best times of the night. I had my arms around his neck and his were around my waist, my head was resting on his shoulder. It was interrupted by a voice.

"Mind if I cut in?" I turned to face the person and was shocked by what I saw. Charlie...in a tux.

Flash back to an hour earlier...

Charlie's POV:

"So what do we do now?" Kyle's asked.

"I will take the two back to Olympus for the proper rest." Apollo said.

"How are we getting back to camp Half Blood?" I ask.

Apollo answered, "we will have to take my bus, and it may take a couple hours."

Just then we heard a POP and bubble gum pink smoke appeared followed by a couple coughs and a women swatting away the smoke.

"Oh hello there everybody," Aphrodite smiles. Then she glanced at how ratty we all looked and snapped her fingers. Zoe was now wearing a pink and yellow sun dress and Kyle and I were wearing khakis and a Ralph Lauren pollo. "Much better"

"Aphrodite why are you here?" Zoe asks.

"Well dear, I believe your brother has a dance soon, am I right Charlie?"

"Well actually I think she's already going with someone..." I stumbled.

"Oh sweetie why do you two keep denying you love each other?" She bopped me on the nose. "Go in there and fight for your woman for Olympus's sake!"

"Ummm ok. Thanks Aphrodite."

"Now Apollo there's no time for your silly bus. I'll take these 3 back and you take those two. We have a girl to woo!" And on that note we disappeared in another bubble gum pink cloud of smoke and returned home. We zapped back landing on the top of the hill.

"Owwww," everyone groaned since we seemed to fall from the sky.

I immediately run to the Zeus cabin and knock on the door. Tristan answers.

"Is your sister here?" I ask.

"she's at the dance. " he says. I nod and run to the Aphrodite cabin. I just barge in.

"I need a tux. Now."

Back to the present...

"Charlie what are you doing here?" Mere says.

"I just got back." I say still kind of hoping for a better welcome than that.

"Oh."

"Meredith who is this?" The guy next to her asks.

"Right, um...Alex this is Charlie. Charlie this is Alex, my boyfriend." I cringe at the word.

"Meredith can I talk to you outside for a second?" I ask. She just nods.

We walk out side of the school to the front entrance where blackjack is. She opens her mouth to say something but i grab her face and I shut her up with a kiss. She's frozen for a second before she starts to pull away. I let go. Her eyes slowly open. Again she try's to say something but I interrupt her.

"I have been waiting to do that all summer. I don't care if you have a boyfriend I don't care if you think I'm crazy for doing this. I'm in love with you Meredith and I always have been and always will be. You may not feel the same way but I have been holding that in for so long and I can't do it anymore. If you feel the same way about me meet me at the lake tonight." With that I kissed her cheek one last time and turned away.
