"Once again, why didn't you tell me earlier?" Laney seemed irritated.
"Same reason as before." Emma started getting the irritated sound in her voice too.
After a while Emma shouted out, "Hey, I found it!" Laney shuffled over to Emma. She was holding a book with a picture of the box on it, with the name of the book on top and what Laney assumed was the name of the author on the bottom. Emma opened the book, and dust flew everywhere.
"Guess this book's a little...old." Emma said sheepishly. She then started reading. "Oh no." She said after a while.
"What's wrong?"
"We can't get out of here. Every time someone opens the box, they get sucked in by the ghosts... Wait! You had the stone that we're in before I got taken, right?"
"Y-Yeah. Why?"
"It says that the box is powered by the stone and someone has to put it in there before it gets like this. The only person who can take the stone out is who put it in."
"Well I know I didn't put it in. Im pretty sure you didn't either. It had to be Lisa or Mackenzie."
"Probably Lisa. She has been really upset with me lately."
"There's no guarantee that she did it."
"That's true. Anyways, we need to find out how to contact Mackenzie and Lisa."
"That's nearly impossible. You couldn't contact us and you were in here forever."
"It says here that if a creature other then the ones who are from here-that's us- get caught in the box, they are released 120 days after capture."
"That means you will get out soon. But I'll still be in here."
"Don't worry. I'll make sure to get you out. I'll make whoever did this get you out."
"Thanks. By the way, how long have we been together?"
"About 14 and a half days."
"What? When does night come?"
"In about 10 minutes. Then night will last for another 15 days."
"This place is off."
Emma and Laney left the library and went to where Emma was first found to sleep. The light dimmed down and all the lights around them turned off.
"Now, night here is just like day. Except nothing is open."
"Is night here as long as day?"
"No, about half the time. But people sleep as long as we do out there." Emma pointed to the top of the box, and Laney nodded. So Laney and Emma went to sleep and woke up about 8 hours later. Emma had to wake Laney up, mostly because of the time change. "If you sleep much longer you aren't going to be able to get out of here." Emma said.
"Huh? I'm up...sort of." Laney said with a yawn. When she opened her eyes the aura was bright like day.
"You're used to normal time. You slept all the way through the night."
"Well, are you ready to go?"
"Yeah, I just wanted you to be up when I leave. Try to stay awake as long as possible."
"Okay."
With that being said, Emma walked off. A few moments later the whole box turned dark, the lid opened, and you could see Emma outside the box. Once it closed, the light returned. Emma had escaped the box. It was crazy. All of this was. It didn't make sense to anybody, no matter how hard they tried to comprehend it all. Finally after a long moment of silence, Laney said, "Well, all I can do is wait."
