Dark Nights

Part 6

Emma landed right in front of Mackenzie. She had a very stern look on her face. "Okay, who did it?"

"Did what exactly?" Lisa had a snarky  tone in her voice.
Emma sighed. "Remember the stone Laney found? Well turns out that activates the box, and only the person who can take it out to deactivate it is the person who put the stone in. Once its deactivated Laney will come out. So who did it?"
"I didn't do it." Mackenzie looked worried.
"Neither did I." Lisa looked worried as well.
"One of you is lying." Emma looked enraged by now.
Then suddenly Mackenzie took a deep breath and opened the box. Nothing happened. Mackenzie had trapped Emma and Laney in the box. She popped the stone out. All of a sudden Laney sprung out of the box. She kicked Mackenzie in her kneecap.
"THAT'S for trapping me and Emma in the box!" She looked aggravated as Emma. "What kind of stupid idea was that anyways?!"
"Wait...you knew about this?" Emma's temper was getting hotter then a blue flame.
"Yes, but none of us knew it would be so drastic. Except for one person." Laney pointed at Mackenzie with evil eyes. "Her."
Mackenzie gave them all a smiling glare. "Its true. What you didn't know is that my grandparents owned this house. Then once they died my dad inherited the house. He taught me all the secrets of the house. When Laney found the stone I thought, 'Hey, I could have some fun with this.'" Mackenzie chuckled.
Her eyes gleamed.
Her teeth showed.
She was one of them. She was related to the ghosts that took them. She wasn't even ashamed. She was proud of what she did. During all of this Emma was shocked. Some of her best friends pranked and almost killed her. She couldn't believe what had just happened. She was mostly surprised about Lisa. She would never do something like this.

Lisa, Laney, and Emma stood several feet away from Mackenzie. She looked crazy. "Now that you guys know, I can't let you escape. I'm going to have to trap you all in the box."
"But I thought you got out after 4 months..." Emma's face looked confused.
"You can set it to do different things. Mostly the time setting. I'm going to set it so you can never get out."
Everyone's eyes widened. Mackenzie was planning to kill them. Emma quickly braced herself, then sprinted to the door. "Quick, guys! Run!" Laney and Lisa didn't question, just ran. Mackenzie tackled Emma while Laney ran out the door. Lisa turned around. She couldn't just let Emma be captured by Mackenzie. She walked over to Mackenzie.
"What are you doing? Go while you can!"
"I can't just leave you here. We've been friends forever. It would hurt me forever if I just-"
"I get the point! Just help me!"
Lisa kicked Mackenzie in her shin. Mackenzie quickly let go of Emma and grabbed her leg. Emma and Lisa sprung out the door and shut it. They had escaped.
