Chapter 44: The Sage, The Spirits, and The Mist's Farewell

Kirigakure - The Reconstruction Phase

Three days had passed since the Nightmare of the Bloody Mist had been exorcised. The constant, oppressive storm clouds that had shrouded Kirigakure for years had finally broken, allowing tentative shafts of sunlight to pierce through, illuminating the scars of the village.

Naruto Gojo, the Honored One, had taken to lounging around the Mizukage's office like he owned the place. He sat atop the main desk, legs crossed, peeling a tangerine he'd swiped from a fruit bowl, while Yagura-still recovering and looking hauntingly pale-sat in a chair opposite him, surrounded by stacks of documents detailing the damages.

"You're brooding again, short stack," Naruto drawled, popping a segment of fruit into his mouth. "It's gonna give you wrinkles. Not a good look for a baby-faced Kage."

Yagura sighed, rubbing his temples. The guilt was a physical weight on his shoulders. "It's not brooding, Naruto. It's assessing the atrocities committed by my hand. The blood on these streets... it doesn't wash away with a little rain."

"It wasn't your hand," Naruto corrected, his tone losing its playfulness for a split second. "It was Obito's. You were just the weapon. And weapons don't carry sin; the wielder does." He hopped off the desk, walking over to the window. "Besides, I fixed the main bridge this morning. Took me, like, five seconds. You're welcome."

The door slid open, and Mei Terumī glided in. She had traded her combat gear for a formal, elegant kimono that accentuated her curves, her auburn hair cascading down her back. The air in the room shifted instantly, charged with her magnetic presence.

"Ara, ara," Mei purred, her green eyes locking onto Naruto. "Our savior is hard at work, I see. Or is 'eating the Mizukage's snacks' considered an S-rank mission in Konoha?"

Naruto grinned, adjusting his shades. "For me? Absolutely. I need fuel to maintain this level of perfection."

Mei chuckled, a sultry sound that made Yagura look away uncomfortably. She stepped closer to Naruto, invading his personal space with practiced ease. "We are grateful, Naruto. The people are... confused, but hopeful. They know a change has come. And they know who brought it."

"Just doing my job," Naruto said, leaning back, unfazed by her proximity. "Saving the weak, crushing the wicked. It's a busy life."

"I imagine," Mei whispered, her finger tracing the collar of his jacket. "Perhaps later, you could show me some of those... other techniques? I'm very interested in this 'Limitless' stamina of yours."

Yagura coughed loudly. "Mei. Please."

Naruto smirked. "Careful, Mei-san. You might get addicted."

The Mental Plane: A Gathering of Kings

That night, Naruto meditated in his guest quarters. He slipped past the veil of reality, his consciousness diving deep into the shared mental plane where the Tailed Beasts gathered.

The landscape was vast and white, a void of pure chakra. Kurama lay grand and imposing, his nine tails swishing with satisfaction. Around them, the other massive silhouettes of the Tailed Beasts materialized, their presence heavy and ancient.

"Yo, oversized plushies," Naruto greeted, standing with his hands in his pockets. "Good news. Isobu is free. He's chilling in a deep trench, safe and sound. Yagura is back in control and guilt-tripping himself, but he's alive."

A rumble of approval went through the gathering.

Matatabi, the Two-Tails, bowed her head gracefully. "Watashi is relieved. You have done a great service to our kind, Naruto Uzumaki."
