"Temper us in fire, and we grow stronger. When we suffer, we survive."
CHAPTER ONE
A year had now past ever since Arva got sent to Earth to live in. The girl had her doubts, she tried to forgive her father, but her poor soul was stubborn. She had went exploring around the land and found ancient objects to her, like an automobile that she is currently living in near the creek. Arva decided to reside next to a mountain, so when it snowed, she could be able to hunt the animals that needed the water to survive. The only downside to living near a water source is that the soil was too mucky and then when the snow will melt, her crops drown. Arva had a farm at least a mile away from where she was camping out. She took random containers she found in burnt down houses and cars. She has created weapons from old knifes, rocks, sticks, and car parts. She had learn how to survive, how to cope with being alone.
For all her time living in the car, Arva had been trying to turn the car on, only for her to hear the radio or some sort of human voices other than her own. She had a thought that maybe she'd be able to somehow send a message to the Arc. Any sort of message, but nothing had been working. Under the hood, half of the parts were missing, so it became a mission for Arva to fix the car, which had yet to completed. Occasionally at night, she'd hear random static, but nothing that sounded like English.
Arva sat down in the bushes, picking berries. Her fingers grazed over the off purple berries, debating which berries were edible and the ones that weren't rotten. Arva's head snapped up when she heard an echo through the forest. The floor started to shake, she quickly grabbed her basket, full of tonight's dinner and ran towards camp. Arva was an incredibly fast girl, her long legs fit right into surviving, except for the limp she developed. She quickly tried turning on the radio, to see if there was anything new that popped up on the machine.
The first thing that came to Arva's mind was that her dad is trying to contact her, a signal. She pressed all the buttons, but all she heard was a constant static that now sounded like a broken record to her. She angrily shouted, ripping out the radio and throwing it into the river. Her hands covered her face as she sobbed.
She no longer wanted to be alone. She felt like she was slowly becoming inhumane from lack of people. It was similar to a book she read a few years ago, Lord of the Flies. Arva tried to collect herself together, she couldn't be weak on the open field.
It's the survival of the fittest.
Another thought ran through her mind, the Grounders.
Arva haven't heard or felt this type of alarm before. Arva slid a knife into the side of her boot, before walking down into the forest to investigate the odd feeling of discomfort that grew in the pit of her stomach. She hid behind trees, eyes widen when she saw a pod in front of her. The metal box with a red stripe was smoking worse than a wild fire. Arva walked around the machine, trying to not step on any of the debris and make the fire worse. Suddenly, the door crashed down on the ground, causing the dirt to rumble underneath her feet. She squatted down on the ground, peaking out behind the tree. She saw a girl, she looked young and beautiful, but Arva knew for sure that wasn't going to last. The jet black hair was laying against her shoulders and her striking features caught Arva's attention. She was too young to be here, her complexion was flawless and her hair was well kept. The stranger looked amazed at the surroundings, but they had no clue what they will have to do to survive on Earth.
Once she stepped on the dirt, she turns around and screamed profanity words. A bunch of adolescents ran out, screaming and shouting. She turned back around, biting her lip on whether she would try to talk to them; she had copious amount of thoughts flooding into her brain. She noticed a blonde girl, holding a piece of paper in her heads. She decided to follow her, quietly. She's managed to do it for quite some time, as if she was trying to hunt animals. She followed the girl to the cliff and stopped, as she stared off into the mountain range. Arva tried to peak out, then she saw another person coming.
