Just avoid what happened after

"Lucas! I need help. Now."
I yelled,dragging him upstairs, along with Laura.

"Woah,Lynch! What's the matter?"
He asked,obviously scared.

"This here is my... fiancé,Laura. And... Uh... You know Angel,right?"

"The blonde who came straight from Russia?"

"Yeah. That's her. She was kidnapped. And she was uh... Let's just say very important to Laura. Could you tell us what they want from her?"
I questioned.

"Wait a minute."
He said,exiting the room.

"I think he's not coming back."
Laura sighed.

"Just...wait."
I don't trust anybody, but when Lucas says something, he does it.

And as I expected,he was back soon with two bracelets in his hand.

"Ross,is your fiancé a human?"

"I uh..."

"Lynch,this is very important."

"Yes."
I exaled,closing my eyes.

"Good. That makes the situation even better. Just don't tell the others. So here's the deal. The demns will obviously try to catch you and lock you in hell with them, to make sure that if they're going down,you will too. But as long as you both wear these bracelets, you're safe. Although you'll have to get married sooner than you expected."
He explained. (lostinlauraworld ;) )

"Married?!"
Laura whispered,clearly in shock. Can't blame her though. Even I didn't think we'd go that far.

"Why is this all necessary?"
I tried to not make obvious the fact that we didn't want to marry each other.

"Because humans believe that when you get married, you become one person with your partner. So if you also wear this bracelet ,your bodies are connected as well. And Laura,being a human,she can't go in hell as long as she's alive,so neither can you. And this marriage shouldn't be a problem since you are already engaged,right?"

"Psh... O-of course not."
I stuttered, making weird faces.

"Great."

"So how do we find her?"

"You've got to cross the human world and find the gates of hell,which appear solely when the moon is red. This will happen in about a year or so. You have enough time to get ready,but Ross,I can assure you that this ain't no safe road."

"Well engagement wasn't either,yet I still did it." I tried to make a joke.

"Love is worth a risk I guess. Good luck demon,child of God."
He flashed us a smile and then returned to his party.

"Child of God?"
Laura raised her eyebrow.

"Yeah.. That'd be you."
I poked her nose. Why did I do that?

I don't know.

Do I reget it?

Nah.

Her blush was worth it.

"So what do we do now?"

"I guess we're going back in the human world."

"Laura,what did you tell your parents when you left?"

"Nothing. I live with my sister. We're both in college."

"Isn't she worried about you?"

"Probably... I didn't really think about it. She just wasn't home and I wanted to save Angel... I just- it was all so sudden,Ross!"
She ran a hand through her hair.

"I know. I'm sorry for putting all this pressure on you. Maybe you should just forget about it. I'll find a way to help Angel by myself."

"Are you crazy?! You can't do it all yourself. Plus... I owe her my life. She's the reason I'm here today. So there's no way I'm leaving you on your own."
She disagreed.

"Thanks Laura."
I smiled at her.

"Ross,uh... Do we really have to marry each other? I mean not that there's something wrong with you because you're pretty cool,but I was hoping to marry someone I love,you know? And clearly not at the age of 19."

"I know. And don't worry about it. I didn't get the chance to marry someone I love and I don't want to take that from you when you have the chance. As I mentioned before, I'll find another way. There must be another way."

"Thank Ross. You're the best."
She hugged me.

"It's weird."
I chuckled,wrapping my arms around her.

"What's weird?"
She mumbled in my shoulder.

"The fact that you're sooooo short."

"I am not short!"
She gasped,pulling out.

"Yes,you are! And you're wearing heels!My sister is..."
I trailed off.

"Was. When my sister was wearing heels,she was much taller than me."
I frowned at the memory,wondering how each of my siblings got to spend the rest of their life.

"I'm sorry."
Laura broke the silence.

"There's no need to be sorry. People die often. It's not like my family were the first ones to do so. And that's the worst part about living for forever. You loose everyone you love."
I said.

"Ross? I know it's not the best timing, but my sister is coming home from her friends in a week. How should I introduce you to her?"
Laura asked.

"Uhhh... Just say that I'm a friend that you met at a party."

"So in other way,tell her the truth,but avoid what happened after. Goodnight, friend."
She kissed my cheek and then I guess she went home.

Friend. Friend is such a strong word! Can humans and demons be friends ? Shouldn't we like supposed to hate each other?

But as I see her getting farther , I realize that I can't hate that girl. And that she needs to be protected and I'll try my best to do so.
