Chapter 13 - Actual Broken Hearts

Cayden's PoV
"I'll be right over"

I signed out of school, hopped into my car and drove on and on and on. It wasn't till ten minutes that I realised I had missed my stop. I turned around at a petrol station and made my way back.

You're probably very very confused. Let me explain......
My Eminem ring tone rang on low volume. Whilst everybody in the class was laughing and picking up wigs off of the floor.... I don't even know what happened, I picked up the phone to hear the most terrible news ever.
"Hello, is this Master.Jones?"
"Oh, yes this is me who are you?"
"Well we're calling from the hospital, it's appeared that your mum has done something to shock herself. Our theory is that she either saw something that she could have a phobia of, for example a spider or watched a horror film, her TV was switched onto a movie channel when your neighbour called because they heard lack of sound"
"Enough with the chit chat, where is she?" I had said very angrily.
"Your mother is in the Elderflower private hospital on 8 Court Drive and she has suffered a heart attack, to find out further information please come down."
"I'll be right over"

So you know what happened after that. I pulled up in the hospital car park and ran to the hospital's reception.
"I'm here for my mum, Miss Jones"
"Right this way" she says with a smile. Her nametag read 'Daisy.' She seemed like a cheesy person who would get on your nerves. And her smile was bigger than my head. She lead me down a few halls and we got to a room.
I ran in as I saw my mum asleep on the bed. She had a heart monitor on and it seemed to be working alright.

"Hi, you must be Master Jones," she begins but I cut her off.
"Please, call me Cayden"
"Okay, your mum's GP has all of her medical notes from the past, he's apparently on holiday so we cannot get in touch with him and we need to know as soon as possible, do you know of anything?"
"Well she has a heart condition"
"Do you happen to know what it's called or...?"
"Yes she has atherosclerosis" I said barely pronouncing it right.
"Do you know what medication she takes for it?"
"No idea"
"Okay, I better go on the computer then and have a look at her records."

Suddenly she dashes off. Like I thought it was ridiculous. My mum could've been dying here - she wasn't. But still, she could have been!
I looked at her and she looked so relaxed. I picked up my phone and rang my sister - that's right, I have a sister!
She's called Aneleh. Yes, strange name I know but there's a very special meaning to it.
My Grandma was called Helena, I only vaguely remember her but my mum told me that she was a very wonderful woman. I was 3 when she died. But the weird thing is, that the night my nana died, the next morning, Aneleh was born! So my mum decided to call her Aneleh which is Helena backwards.

So Anna is 14 and damn she can be so annoying but she's still at school so that's why I'm ringing her.
"Yes what do you want Cayden" she says over the noise of the school at lunchtime.
"Get Nick to drop you off at 8 Court Drive"
"Okay!" She says straight away and hangs up.

My sister kind of... Has a crush on Nick. It's kinda weird because she's 3 years younger than him. She thinks his whole 'Bad boy demeanour' is hot. But she begged me not to tell mum she said that so I blackmailed her last year (when I was still a geek) to let me do her homework. Ew. Old me makes me cringe.

"Where is she?" Anna says as she bursts through the door.
"She's fine."
"She doesn't look it, what are all those machine things hooked up to her. Oh my god..."
"Anna, calm down. Deep breaths"

She suffers from anxiety like a lot of teenagers in this day in age. So now she was having a panic attack and I know from my point of view that they're awful. Sometimes I used to just think about my bullies and my breath would go all heavy, I'd get hot sweats, feel like I was going to pass out and feel trapped in a ball. I say there's nothing worse than a panic attack. I started to massage Anna's temples because that always used to help me before.
Even though she annoys me, I love her unlike many other brothers and sisters. I don't ever want to see her get hurt.

"You okay now?" I ask her reassuringly
She nods, "Nick told me you have a new tattoo"
"Yes it's here," I lift up the sleeve on my t-shirt and show the dove I have inked on my bicep.

Anna always knew about me and how I am now because she saw me at school everyday but she said she'd never tell mum as long as I don't tell her that last year she got drunk at a party, and yes she was only 13.

Suddenly the doctor walks through the door and we have all attention on her.

"Okay, your mum will be fine. I suggest you both go and get some rest and hopefully your mum will be ready to be back on her feet tomorrow evening."
"Oh my gosh, thanks doctor, calls us back when she's ready."
"Definetly" she gives us both a hearty smile.

As we're walking back to the door, Anna speaks, "So where are we going, home or your apartment?" She says wiggling her drawn-on brows.
"I'm taking you to school"
"Nooo please no Cayden please" she puts on a pouty face and tries to go all puppy dog eyes on me.

"Right okay fine!" I snap
"Yayyy"
She runs to the passenger seat of my car and turns on the radio to her stupid music about 'smoking all night' and 'fucking bitches.'
I recognise the song shes listening to so I just start singing along.

We get to my childhood home and we step out of the car.

"Right where's your key?" I ask Anna.
"Right here" she says pulling out of her pocket and shoving it in the door.

"Right go and get your uniform off and I'll order us takeaway and I'll invite Nick over if you want."
"Yeah but still, no fair can I have one friend?" She says using puppy dog eyes on me again.
"Who will you have?" I ask.
"I'll only have Alice round"
"That's fine then"
She runs up stairs to get her uniform off.

I pull out my phone and go onto my contacts to ring Nick

"Hey bro, want to come over?"
"Yeah definetly I'll be over in 20"

He then hangs up the phone.
I turn round to see Anna in an outfit I don't even know what she's wearing.
She's wearing a very thin boob tube, shorts which are shorter than her eyelashes and some sparkly braces/suspenders.
"Do not think you are wearing that!!" I say to her
"I want too"
"I'm pretty sure you have longer pants than that and that boob tube is part of a bikini set which mum said is for your holidays. You're not going to impress Nick like that"
"It's not for Nick" she says which makes me very confused.

Suddenly the doorbell rings and she rushes to the door. I her muffled sounds and I hear them walk down the hall and into the living room. It's a boy. A freaking boy. I thought she was having Alice over?

"Okay, Cay we're just going upstairs okay"
"You're fucking not! Who the hell is this!?"
"Well Cayden, Daniel, Daniel, Cayden"
"Actually, I think it's going to be Daniel, door, door, Daniel. Get out before I pound you" I say to this pathetic 14 year old in front of me. He practically runs out of the door.
"Right you go and get changed and invite Alice round."
"Me and Alice fell out at school okay"
"But I thought.."
"You thought wrong" she says butting in.
"Invite Mae"
"Oh yeah good idea!" She charges up the stairs and I hear the doorbell ring.

"Hey Nick"
I let him in and we go into the living room and wait for Anna to come down.
She came down in something more appropriate or should I say less exposed she was changed into some ripped white skinny jeans a grey T-shirt and a leather jacket, yes my 14 year old sister had pretty good style for her age.
About half an hour later Mae turns up and Anna whispered something in her here before they left the living room and hurried to the kitchen.

Anna's PoV
Me and Mae rushed into the kitchen and poured ourselves some lemonade and then poured some of my brothers vodka into the lemonade I smirked.
no one would notice...
I casually walked back to the living room and took a seat on the sofa next to Nick
After the vodka had kicked in and a lot of movies I went to the quest bedroom and pulled out my game of truth or dare I took it downstairs and we started playing
