I called an ambulance and in 5 minutes she was being loaded onto a stretcher and was wheeled into the back of the ambulance when we arrived she was took to have billions of tests I sat at her bedside and waited there for 7 hours then I grabbed Charlie's phone and called her mum she picked up on the 2nd ring I said "h- hello Mrs.Towers"
"Hello?"
"It's about Charlie...she's in hospital"
"I'm on my way"
Then the line went dead 10 agonising moments later she pulled upWe sat there in silence waiting for the test results when they came back he said "we think she's been taking drugs"
Her mother immediately looked at me. What the hell did I do."Unfortunately, we wish we could just leave her to get well but class B drugs have been found in her system." The doctor said.
"Excuse me but can we just have a private word" her mum said to the doctor. He nodded his head and turned on his heel to go out of the door.
"Right Jones what's gotten into you!?"
Here we go another lecture and I can tell she's mad because she called me Jones, why does everyone call me that when they're mad?
"Charlie constantly goes on about how much you've changed how you used to be the good one and now you smoke constantly, you play girls you probably have piercings in places I don't even wanna know. I thought I'd give my daughter a bit of freedom and let her come with you tonight but providing her with drugs Cayden!? This is an extreme level and I'm sorry but I'm going to have to call your mother!"
"No,no,no you can't I moved out around 10 months ago and as far as she knows I'm still good, anytime I visit her I just cover up my piercings, please don't Mrs.Towers!" I beg her
"Wait, I could've swore your name was Miss.Littlewood, like Charl's" I say confused
"I got hitched last month." Wow Charlie had never mentioned this to anyone "You called me Mrs.Towers on the phone though?"
"Yeah because that's the name you was under in Charlie's contacts"
"I'm not saved under a contact called Mum?"
"I'm sorry"
"It's fine, hey you know if Charlie ever told you anything serious, would you tell me?" She says twiddling with her rings.
"Definetly" I wouldn't. I wouldn't tell her about the Jasmine thing and clearly at the moment Charlie doesn't have the best relationship with her mum if she didn't brag about her getting married.
"You don't have to stay here you know" her mum said smiling
"I know but I really really care about her, hate to see anything bad happen" I say honestly. It's true. I haven't found it hey but there's something that I can't really live without and it's something to do with Charlie."You know what!"
"Yes?" I ask in question
"I believe you Cayden, you might have this punk styled image but you're an honest lad"
"Please don't tell Charlie anything I said, I want to win her over my way" immediately I slapped my hand over my mouth. I'd always had odd thoughts about Charlie and I'd always debated with myself whether I like her but. Oh my gosh. I just mentioned that I like her and telling her mum. Oh my god.
"Deep in thought dear?" She asks me.
"Please really don't say I told you that, I don't know if Charlie likes me too"
"I'm being honest but I wouldn't have thought you were like this""People judge me because of my image but don't they ever think like these tattoos could mean something, if I want to ink my skin I will. I still have feelings like other people. People expect me to breathe fire and that I scream at anything that's moving, I guess now I can't just suddenly go to being soft because people would judge me even more. The only place I've been judged where I understand is in a court"
Suddenly her mouth goes into and O shape.
"I'm messing with you"
She then looks more reassured
"They took me straight to prison"
"What'd you get put in for?" She asks smirking
"Being cheeky to a cop when he asked me to clean up the pooh that I did in the street"
"Oh my word," she says laughing away, "I have some awful drunk stories but I think even you may be to young to hear."* * *
Literally I can only remember talking to Charl's mum like twice before but now we've got to know eachother she's like my own mum. But what more can you do when you've been sitting in a hospital for 5 hours. It's now 6am and a Saturday morning. A police officer is coming in at 10am and I just feel like they're going to blame me for everything.
Charlie is expected to wake up this afternoon, she does needs to be able to breath by herself. Whichever drug she took, which I don't remember her doing but the one she took got into her bloodstream and it's slowing her organs down.
Every so often I hear her snore which puts my mind at ease, but I'll hope she'll be awake soon. I've also learnt something while I've been here, hospital food is disgusting!
Last night I went down to the hospital cafeteria for a sandwich and it tasted like cardboard. The coffee is lovely though; it's made by a Costa machine. There's a WHSmith in the hospital so I just ended up getting a couple of chocolate bars.
Linda - Charl's mum- is asleep which I'm not surprised at. If I hadn't drank any coffee I'd be asleep by now. She asked me to wake her up at 8. So here I have 2 hours to fill till I've got somebody to talk to.I pull out my phone which is at 6%. I scroll through the photos of last night. Charlie looked like she was really coming out of her shell. We took a lot of selfies because that's what everyone does these holidays. There's this one photo where Charlz has her arm around me. There's this one where she's kissing my cheek and this one when we're both sat on the bar.
I stop.
I scroll into the picture.
I see something that definitely should not be in a selfie.
Immediately I wake up Linda. 6:30 in the morning or not, she needs to see this. I can't unsee this. And my phone is a genius for capturing this.
(Oh my god. What did Cayden see in the picture? Do you ship #Caylie? We need to decide on a ship name.)
