I wake up the next morning to my phone ringing. I answer it without checking.
"This is Bella." I say softly.
"I'm picking you up, my family know we're friends only Rose minds. I figured you would need a ride if you didn't want Charlie taking you in the cruiser." Alice says from the other end.
"Alright you can help me pick an outfit if you get here fast enough." I say and she laughs.
"I just pulled in." She says.
"I'm in my room." I hang up. A few seconds later she comes in and looks around smiling.
"Wow." She says and I nod, she goes to the closet and looks through it. She pulls out black skinny jeans, a tight blue shirt, and my black leather jacket, she then pulls out a pair of black heels.
"Wear that. Oh I forgot to mention that Jasper rides with me to school. Do you mind?" She asks.
"No I don't mind. Thank you for giving me the letter." I say and she nods.
"Well Peter is really nice, childish, but nice." She says.
"He wants to help me with something."
"I'd let him." She says as I get dressed and I brush through my long hair. I grab my phone, bag, and a random book from one of my shelves.
"Thank you for stocking my bookshelves." I say as we head downstairs.
"It was my pleasure, I don't read a whole lot but Jasper does, so he helped pick out most of the books, Esme helped as well." She explains as I eat before heading outside to her sleek black car.
"Jasper is in the back." She says.
"He didn't have to do that." I say staring to where he's probably sitting.
"He does as he pleases. Let's go." She says and my phone goes off again. This time a check to see its an unknown number and frown.
"Give me a minute yeah?" I ask and she nods getting in. I answer the phone confused.
"This is Bella." I say.
"Oh hey Bells." A voice says and I sigh in relief.
"How exactly did you get this number Phil?" I ask curiously getting in the car.
"Charlie gave it to me of course. Said not to give it to Renee but I'm not stupid. Anyway just calling to let you know your dingbat mother got herself arrested." He says.
"What?" I ask shocked.
"Apparently telling people you beat the hell out of your child is frowned upon. A neighbor turned Her in. And I filed for divorce." He says.
"Well then good for you sucks for her. Listen I'll call you later, I'm heading to school. What are you even doing? Shouldn't you be at work?" I ask.
"Nah took the day off to celebrate my new freedom." He says and I laugh lightly.
"Well good luck with that. Bye Phil." I say softly.
"Try to have a good time there." He says.
"I already am." I lie.
"Liar. Bye Bella." He says and hangs up. I look out the window silently, practically feeling the confusion I'm the car.
"Phil is my step dad. He called to tell me my prostitute/alcoholic/abusive mother has been arrested." I say and get and 'oh' From both of them.
"Thanks for helping pick out my books, Jasper." I say absentmindedly checking my phone as I get a text.
-Hey Bella, it's Peter, thank you for messaging me. Careful though your worrying Alice with being so distant. She's gonna hound you in a second.- I roll my eyes and look up just in time for her to question me.
"Who was that?" She demands and I look at her amused.
"Someone we talked about last night." I say and she grins.
"Good. Keep it up." She says amused.
"Yeah whatever." I mutter responding to the text.
-You said you could help me. How?
I look back out the window as we park next to a silver Volvo and my phone goes off.
-Stay away from Edward, my knower said something's wrong with him.
I just nod to my phone and get out.
"I'll see you later Alice. I'm gonna go get my schedule and Shit." I say and she nods.
"I'll sit with you at lunch." She says and I smile before looking around and my eyes land on who must be Jasper and I feel my breath catch in my throat but hide my sudden change in emotion easily. The boy before me is tall, muscular but not muscular, honey blonde hair that reaches his chin in waves with liquid gold eyes. He was wearing jeans, a button up black shirt and dark cowboy boots. I quickly look away and grab my stuff before leaving without another word but I can hear Alice squeal in delight.
I ended up being in all advanced classes, and being a senior, that meant I shared all of my classes with Jasper, who was also in all advanced classes. The only classes we didn't have together were Gym and Art. I ended up sitting beside him in all those classes as it would be the only free seat. He didn't seem to mind though but never spoke to me. I had met Emmett and Rosalie in my Art class, while Alice and Edward were in my Gym class. Edward looks at me weirdly, like I'm his meal or something. I spent most of my time texting Peter and getting to know the little dick only to find that he and Jasper have a similar past, only Jasper is older, he won't tell me, saying its not really his place since it involves Jasper as well and I respected that, he told me he can teach me what he can over the phone but would eventually have to meet me in person. I've only spoken to him today but he already feels like a brother to me.
I keep getting curious looks from Jasper almost like he can feel my emotions and is confused which is likely since he's a vampire. I've noticed the bite marks on the skin I could see but it only made me curious. By the time school ended the only one who hadn't spoken to me was Jasper. I tried to stay away from Edward, something about him just screamed danger to me. I go to Alice's car but find Jasper getting in the driver seat.
"Where's Alice?" I blurt out confused and he looks at me for a second.
"Hunting. She asked me to take you home." He says and I immediately get in the car. He immediately drives off but not toward home.
"Where are you taking me?" I ask curiously as my phone goes off.
-Trust him Lil'bit he won't hurt you, I promise.
I feel myself relax but not because of the text.
"To get you a car, a gift from Carlisle and Esme for befriending Alice. Charlie is pitching in I think. I'm sorry for how I acted today." He says.
"What do you mean?" I ask confused.
"You tried speaking to me and I basically blew you off. For that I apologize." He says.
"Don't be, I've had experience with Vampires before. Besides I have it on good authority you won't hurt me. But you could be an ass and prove him wrong." I say cockily and practically feel his shock.
"Your not afraid of me?" He asks shocked.
"Should I be? I've seen some of your scars, they just make me curious. No if anything I think I'm more afraid of Edward than I am you." I say and he snorts amused.
"That's stupid. Edward is a bitch. Why fear him?" He asks.
"Because he's the one who looks at me like I'm a piece of meat. Besides a friend said he could cause me problems. I don't trust him." I say truthfully.
"Ignore him. He's been slipping lately but only Alice and I know, we're trying to help him." He says softly.
"Just keep him away from me. Your friend is a bitch." I say and my phone starts ringing immediately and I answer it.
"What? You know it's true." I say amused.
"That's not nice. I am not." He says sounding like he's pouting.
"Is that Peter?" Jasper asks shocked.
"Ah hey Major." Peter says and I laugh.
"She's right though. You're a bitch." Jasper says and I smirk.
"Alright stop ganging up on me. Char tell them." Peter whines and I hear a sound as she smacks him.
"Don't worry sugar, major, I got him." She says
"Thanks Char." Jasper laughs and she hangs up. I listen to him laugh committing the sound to memory.
"Your emotions are different than anyone I've ever met." Jasper says quietly.
"How so?" I ask.
"Anyone, human or our kind, tend to fear me. Vampires or Shifters, they see my marks and are immediately scared and disgusted. Your not, it's a relief really." He says.
"I don't know your past. All I know is that you, Peter, and Charlotte share the same past. Respectfully I didn't ask. I don't need to know. All I care about is that whatever happened back then, shaped you into who and what you are now. And I don't believe you warrant hate, disgust, fear, or lack of trust from me. Unless you prove otherwise. So I extend to you the same request I gave Alice. If your family has to leave for any reason, I would like it if you at least kept in touch. And if you know of anything that will put me in danger I would like to be told. Alice already agreed. But only other thing with her is that she's my new best friend, no lies no secrets." I say calmly.
"I promise." He says the second I stop talking.
"I won't ask for your story, or anyone's. Tell me if you wish or if you think I need to know. But just know that nothing you say will change how I view you." I say getting out of the car and looking around.
"Now let's see if I can find it." I say mostly to myself as I walk around and find the section I want and look at them. I pick one and turn to Jasper.
"I want that one." I say calmly and he grins.
"I have that exact one in silver." He says and I smirk.
"Good we could go riding one day then." I say.
