"W-what do you mean?" I choked out, wishing I could see Dylan's face through the pitch black.
"It's fine Kato." Dylan giggled. "I've known for some time now. I was waiting for you to come out to me, but... Oh well."
"I'm not gay!" I whisper-yelled, putting more confidence in my voice.
"Are we still doing this?" Dylan sighed., looking at me in the blackness.
There was a long string of silence before I spoke. "How did you figure it out?" I mumbled quietly.
"Kato, we've been friends since we were 13. You really thought I wouldn't figure it out?" His voice sounded slightly hurt, and My throat went dry.
"Sorry. I just... Didn't know how'd you'd react. Nick either. Other then that I would have told you."
"I don't know about Nick, but I'm fine with gays." He chuckled, snaking his arm around me.
My heart jumped out of my chest when he said he still liked me.
"Who else knows?" He blurted, disturbing the moment.
Oh, right. I forgot. There was still Nick, Jade, and Mom that needed to find out. Someday....
''Dani and Ash."
"Dani knows? When did you tell them?" He sounded hurt again. I wish I told him sooner.
"I told Dani last year. Actually, it was an accident. She was talking about guys she thiught were sexy and I accidentally said that I would fuck one of them. She didn't care I was gay though."
He seemed happy that I didn't mean to keep it form him and tell her. "When did you give the news to Ash?" His words getting bitter when he said Ash's name.
"Oh. I didn't. Dani invited me over to checkout her new boyfriend," Dylan nodding shortly, before I continued on. "And he told me to stay away from Dani and I was like 'I don't like her like that' and he was all like 'Oh God, you dress like one' and I was like 'WHERT' and he was like 'You're a fag, I won't tell...yet' and that's how he found out."
Dylan laughed at my rant. "It's kinda true, Kato. You dress a little...gay."
"DA FUQ? WHAT'S WRONG WITH MY CHLOTHES?!"
Dylan covered his mouth, and mine, to shut my screaming and his laughing up. After we'd both became still, he said, "So you think he'll tell?"
"I don't know." I said, I really didn't. I hoped he kept his fat ass lips shut. If anyone told, it was gonna be me. Only when I'm ready.
"Does anyone else know?" Dylan asked.
I thought for a moment. "Nope."
"Kay, let's leave it like that for now. Then if he does try to tell someone, maybe he'll tell someone who already knows." He looked at me. "So who do you like?"
I blushed and my mind flew back to Ash. I shook it out of my mind. "I...Don't like anyone." I muffled, not convincing him.
Dylan rolled his eyes and yawned like a little kitten. "I tired." He sqeaked like a little kid. I sighed, happy he dropped it.
"...Dylan?"
"Hmm."
"Thanks for understanding. I'm glad you know now."
"Don't mention it. But duh I understand. I'm gay too."
WHAT. Maybe I heard him wrong. "What are you talking about?"
Dylan laughed. "I. Like. Boys."
NOPE. I was right. Dylan's gay?!?!
Dylan is gay?
Dylan.
GAY?!
......
OH MY FUCKING GOD DYLAN GRANT IS GAY!
***
Dylan and I climbed into his car, heading to school. Half the time we just drove silently, before I burst. "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME YOU KNEW I WAS GAY? Who else knows? How long have you known? Have you had a boyfriend? Wh-"
"Okay! Too many questions!" Dylan shouted right back. "Uhm. I found out two years ago, after my girlfriend and I broke up. I figured out I didn't like her like that. I haven't had a boyfriend. The only other person that knows is my dad. And.... You didn't know because I was nervous.'' He looked down.
The new info sunk into my mind, answering my questions. "I'm happy you told me." I said finally. "You should tell Dani. She'll be fine with it." I smiled.
He nodded, then glanced at me uneasily. "Do you know when your going to tell people?"
"Nope." I blurted. "I'm just not ready."
"When you are , I'll be here." Dylan smiled.
When luch came by, I wanted to go home. It's not that today was bad, but it lasted way longer than usual. I was a little more happy becaus Dylan was fine with my gayness. Still shocked me that he was, but glad he told me.
"Hey Dani?" Dylan asked her, looking shaky.
"Yeah?''
"Can you uh, come with me for a minute?"
She nodded and stood up, Dylan giving me a nod that he was going to tell Dani. I gave him a thumbs up, then dragged my attention back to my table. I came to the horrifying realization that Nick was sick today. It was just Ash and I.
Ash got up, motioning for me to stand too. I gave him a confused look at her looked at the ground. "Follow me." He mumbled, going towards the door outside. I have no idea why I went, but for some reason I did.
He took me to the back of the school. No one goes there. I stiffened up, hoping he wasn't going to hurt me in any way.
"Kato, umm. Just sayin', I'm not gonna say anything... Y'know, that your a fag." He spat the last part, a serious look on this face. I tried to decipher if he was kidding.
"Really?" I asked, shocked.
"Yeah."
"Well uh, thanks." I scratched my neck awkwardly.
He nodded and leaned against the brick wall. He slid down, sitting against it. I looked at him for a second before sliding down too. Not close, but next to him, causing him to smirk.
We had a moment of silence, then he ruined it. "So do you have a boyfriend, or something?"
I smirked right back. "Nope. You interested?" I joked.
"No way dude, not a fag." His face full of disgust.
BURN. I don't know why it hurt a little when he rejected me, even though it was a joke. I know that he's straight and all but I still stiffened.
"I know. I was joking." I forced a smile. He laughed.
"Yup. Sure you were." He winked, and smiled. He was back in a joking mood.
HOLY SHIT HAD HE JUST WINKED AT ME? Why yes. I do believe he did.
I blushed cherry red, which caused his casual smirk to grow.
"DYLAN TOLD ME!!!" Dani yelled. We were at her place, he parents keeping a distance because she was practically screaming and dancing.
"Yep. Awesome right?" I couldn't help but laugh. She was overly happy, but she was pretty much always like that.
We were waiting for Dylan, Nick, and Ash to get here. Nick was better, which was good because there was never an awkward silence with him. Barely any silence at all.
I actually wanted to see Ash again. After we were behind the school, he seemed awesome.
Well speak of the devil. Dylan, Nick, and Ash had just knocked on the door.
"Hey guys." I smiled at all of them. They all said hi back, but Ash was just ignoring my presence.
Ignore what I said about him being awesome.
