"Ryder?" Harley says at the lunch table

"yeah, i couldn't believe it either" Charlie says

i kept listening to them talking back and forth about how it was Ryder Daniels that Aimee hooked up with. About the whole of our year knew now but he never turned up to school so most of them don't believe it.

Instead of joining in with everybody's conversation about recent events i just sit there looking at the pole that stands in the middle of the cafeteria just thinking about what had happened.

I still couldn't believe it. I don't mean to sound like a bitch or anything but i kind of thought him and i were going to become a thing but i guess not now.

"you in Gabs?" i heard someone say, snapping me out of my thoughts

"what?"

"want to come pay Ryder a little visit after school? Meaning around midnight" Sawyer repeats with a smirk on his face

"i don't know"

"c'mon, it'll be fun!" Harley says, clearly not wanting to be the only girl there

"what about Leo? i don't think he'll want us to" i say, remembering that Aimee was Leo's ex girlfriend anyway

"he's not here today, he won't know we went"

i think for a minute about wether to say yes or not but eventually give in

"fine, but what exactly are we going to do?"

"you'll find out later" Sawyer tells me, getting up from the table to go wherever

"i need to go to hand in my english essay" Harley announces and gets up and leaves

So now it's just Charlie and i at the table in an awkward silence but eventually he breaks it.

"did you go out with Sawyer?"

"what?" i say, turning to face him

"you know the night we went out, did you go out with Sawyer too?"

"what makes you think that?"

"you mean what makes me know that? he knew about the Ryder thing the same time as you did?"

"so what if i did?" i say "i'm aloud to go out with friends, am i not?"

"i just thought" he starts to say but then stops

"thought what?" i ask after a few seconds later

"i don't know" he says "i thought maybe we went out being more than friends"

"oh" is all i manage to say

"oh?"

"i thought we were going out as in just friends"

he looks at me for while before speaking again

"it doesn't matter" he says before standing up "how many times have i told you to stay away from Sawyer?"

"i don't know, why?" i say, standing up along with him

"i tell you to stay away from him and you go out for a meal with him?"

"there's no reason for me to stay away from him"

"Sawyer's a player and i'm scared he'll play you.." he says sighing

"are you jealous?"

"what?"

"you sound jealous"

"well i'm not" he says, his cheeks turning a bit red

"look Charlie" i start to say "i can hang out with who i want to, and if you don't like it then maybe we should stop"

"do you remember who got you into this group?"

"excuse me?" i say

"you used to be a nerdy quiet girl and now you're a nerdy bitchy girl"

"i'm hardly bitchy"

"well your attitude has definitely changed since you started hanging out with us"

instead of saying anything i give him a hard stare and he does the exact same back

we stood there looking at each other for a good few minutes, probably earning a few stares from people, until we were interrupted by Aimee

"Charlie, can i talk to you for a second?" my head snaps to face Aimee and i give her an awkward smile which earns me a dirty look back

"Aimee, i don't think we should" Charlie tells her

"please it's important" she says, looking a bit desperate "Gabriella can you go?"

"i still ha-"

"Gabriella! I said go"

"i said go" feeling confident i mimicked her which gave me a dirty look and i could tell she was about to say something but Charlie interfered

"Gabs, i'll see you after school, okay?" he says

"fine" i mumble picking up my bag and leaving to find Harley

shorter than usual but hey ho
