...

It was October 30th, ten thirty-seven PM, when [Name] lied in bed with her cell phone in her hand. She kept dozing off but jumped awake whenever she thought she heard her phone ringing.

She checked, worried, but there were zero notifications.

Sebastian told her he'd be arriving that night and she told him she'd pick him up, despite her due date nearing; she was physically vulnerable with her watermelon-sized belly.

Those on and off times without him were difficult. Ever since her pregnancy started, she was only able to see him a few days in a month or chat with him through the laptop screen, aside talking through the phone. He was gone for three months, then he would come back for a few weeks to see her grow and deal with her mood swings and hormonal changes, only to leave for another period of time.

She managed to endure lonely days but only because Sebastian was best at keeping his communication with her, plus he supported her financially—even when she didn't need the extra money, he sent it because that's how worried he'd be for her health and his child's health...

But upon nearing her due date, [Name] felt many close calls of labor: pain, discomfort—the normal. The times she'd panic was when her body detected labor threats that she knew very well: the fear of miscarriage, which consisted of minor abdominal pain and back aches.

However, her faith lied on the positive side. She felt her child moving around so she was sure everything was going perfect as it had been all these months.

Until that night...

"AH!" She jolted on the bed and protectively clamped her arms around her stomach. Another severe kick of pain to her body and she balled up with a helpless shriek.

"Seba...!" she gasped, cringing as the pain became intolerable and reached for her phone to dial his number— but ended up dialing 911 once she felt at the verge of running out of breath.

"911, what is your emergency?"

She screamed into the phone, "Help! I'm-I'm...!"

"Ma'am, are you in danger?"

"I-I don't know! I'm in so much pain...!" she sobbed, clutching the phone in her hand as her other held onto her stomach. "But my baby... P-please help my baby!

"Please do your best to stay awake. Help is on the way."

"GAH—!" Clenching her teeth, she threw her phone at the wall in pain and yelled one more time before her hazy vision faded into darkness.

...

"[Name]... Awaken!"

Forcibly obedient, her eyes flashed wide open and gasped air into her lungs. She saw everything side-ways – just like that first day she woke up on the sidewalk – and quickly sat up straight to find herself in a room filled with men and women staring directly down at her. It looked like she was in some circular court room, with her in the middle as if she was about to fight off some deadly beast.

"Where... Where am I?" she croaked due to her dry throat. A set of coughing then took over and gagged when she couldn't control her breathing. No one injured her, nor did anyone cast any type of spell on her, but she felt as if she'd been poisoned. Her heartbeat raced dangerously and all she got was the smashing sound of a familiar gavel to distract her of her condition.

"[Name]," called a dark voice, "you are here for participating in an illegal trade."

Her eyes widened in response by the voice's blunt introduction.
