"Want me to go inside and grab some snacks and drinks?" I asked him once he calmed down a little.
"That would be nice," he said with a smile, "but I don't want you straining yourself. It could hurt the baby."
"Oh Blake, I'm fine, and so is the baby. But will you take me to the doctors tomorrow? I just can't go alone."
"Of course. Want me to call and make an appointment?"
I nodded my head, and he pulled his phone out of his pocket. I stood up and climbed down the ladder, and headed towards the house for food. The house was quiet, except for the noise of Franklin, my hedgehog, messing around in his cage. I think I'll bring him out to the tree, I thought to my self as I headed to my room where his cage was. Suddenly, I heard the front door open and slam shut. It couldn't be my mom, she's not supposed to be back for a few days. I got up to check, and I see the figure of the last person I ever want to see again.
Tyler.
He turns around when he hears me walking on the hardwood floor.
"You!" he shouts, coming towards me, with his finger in my face. "What the fuck? You're pregnant? You really must be a bigger whore than I thought you were."
"You know that's not me. You know you're the only person who I've ever done that with, and the only reason was because you got me so drunk to where you knew I couldn't refuse. You even left me in the room, crying my eyes out! You're a monster!" I screamed in his face. Outraged by what I just said, he grabs me by the arm, very tightly. It's so painful.
"Let go! Tyler let go!"
"You wanna blame this baby of yours on me? Okay fine. Then if it is my baby, then prove it."
"But I can't right now. It's only been a month."
"Fine, when that thing is born, well see if it's mine. And if it is, you're going to wish it wasn't," he said that last part very low, with that smirk he always uses. He lets go of my arm, turns out of my room, and leaves my house, slamming the door on his way out. I fell to the floor, crying. Franklin makes even more noise, seeing me in this state. I get up, open his cage, and hold him. He snuggles in my hands, trying to make me feel better.
"Come on Franklin, let's grab this food and get to Blake," I said, knowing he won't speak back. I grab the food and head outside to the tree house. I make my way up, climbing with one hand, something I've had to learn to do, ever since I got Franklin for my 15th birthday, last year. He was a gift from Blake. That was probably the highlight of the entire day....

"Wake up! It's a special day!" Blake shouts, jumping on my bed.
"Ughh.. Can't you ever let me sleep in?" I question, rolling over in my bed.
"Dawn, it's you're birthday."
"So? One year older? Big deal. It's not like mom cares, and dad sure as hell doesn't. Him leaving proved that quite well."
"Yeah, but I care," he said. I sat up and hugged him, "besides, remember how you tried making a big deal about my 16th birthday last week?"
"Soooo?" I asked, emphasizing the o's.
"Soooo, that means I have to pay you back," he said, mocking me.
"Okay, okay. I'm up," I said, sitting up in my bed, "so what are we doing?"
"I'm going to the tree house. Get dressed, and I'll meet you up there," he said, unable to contain his happiness.
