***Three Weeks Later***
I walked into the doctors office, accompanied by Blake. I looked up nervously at him, and he gave my hand a reassuring squeeze. I signed in, and sat down in the waiting area. I looked around, still feeling anxious. It was a little more crowded than last time. But the same girl from last time was here again. She sat right in the spot she had three weeks ago.
"Sierra Wingate," the nurse called out. I saw the girl stand from her seat and walk towards the doors.
So her name is Sierra. I wonder what she's like. Maybe next time I'll talk to her. She seems sweet. And I could possibly get some tips from her. I could use another friend. All I really have is Blake.
"Dawn Moralli," another nurse called out, pulling me out of my thoughts. I stood up and headed toward the nurse, pulling Blake behind me. Just like last time, I was led to a room with the bed, and ultrasound machine.
"Dr. Rose will be in shortly," the nurse told us.
We sat for a few minutes. I was looking at the machine, and I felt a pair of eyes on me. I turned around to see Blake looking at me, as if he were staring into my soul. Before I could say anything to him, I heard the sound of the door opening, and Dr. Rose, greeting us.
"Hello, you two. How are you doing, Dawn?" she asked me.
"I'm alright. I've noticed my stomach is beginning to get larger. I didn't think I'd have to worry about that until a little later in the pregnancy," I said to her nervously.
"Yes, well every pregnancy is different. You have quite a petite figure, and maybe that's why you're noticing such a change," she informed me.
"Well, I suppose that's true."
"Now, let's see what's going on in that stomach," she said jokingly, turning on the machine, "now this is cold, but you already knew that," she chuckled, as she squeezed the freezing blue gel into my stomach. She put the wand to my stomach and started moving around. She pointed out the baby, but then seemed shocked.
"Wha- what is it?" I asked nervously.
"It the baby alright?" Blake asked.
"Well, yes, but there seems to another baby in there," she says, "congratulations, you're having twins," she told me. My eyes got large and begun to fill with tears.
"Twins..."
"Yes, we won't be able to determine the gender of the babies until about 20 or so weeks along, when we can know for sure."
"Okay, thank you ma'am," I said, still kind of in shock.
"I see you're a bit shaken up. Well, this explains the size of your stomach so early. There's two little babies in there, not one," Dr. Rose told me.
"That makes sense doctor," Blake, jumps in, "How about we go to the mall, hang out, have fun, I'll buy you some things also. It will be fun, I promise," he turned and offered me. I looked over to him, "Okay, Blake," I told him with a smile.
"There we go, a happy mother," the doctor said, "So, I'll let you two go and have fun, but I've got you some vitamins that will help the babies during the pregnancy," she said, handing me a bottle of vitamins.
"Thank you," I said, putting them into my Batman bag, and slid off the bed.
We left the doctors office and headed for the mall again.
"Hungry?" Blake asked as we passed the food court.
"No, I'm fine," I told him. He stops and gives me a skeptical look.
"You're eating for three now. You can't say you're not hungry."
"Okay, maybe a teensy bit," I said, smiling.
"I knew it," he smiled and led me to a Subway. He ordered for me, and payed. We say down and I devoured my sandwich. He started laughing at me, and I playfully hit him in the chest.
"Blake! Don't make fun of me!" I shouted as we stood up, heading for the Babies 'R Us. We walked in and looked around.
"I don't know what I'm having. I don't know what to buy," I said, coming close to tears.
"Hey, its okay. We can get green and yellow. Those colors work for boys and girls. Maybe something that reflects you," he said with a smile.
"Thank you, Blake," I smiled.
"Hey, how about this?" Blake was standing in front of a cute black crib, "I like it. Do you?"
I looked at it, seeing it was very well made, and could match my room.
"I like it. I suppose the babies could always share it."
"Well, let's get it," he said heading to the front to search for a store associate to help us.
"Hello, ma'am. I'm looking to buy that crib over there," he said, pointing in the direction of the baby crib isle. At first, she looked skeptical. She looked at me standing next to him, and gave me a dirty look. Looking back at Blake, she says, "Sure thing, sweetheart."
Blake leads her to the isle, pointing out the crib. She looks at it again, giving the crib one of those nasty looks.
"This one? Are you sure?" she asked, looking at Blake.
"Yes, this is what we like," he said, giving her a stern look, and putting his arm over my shoulder.
"Whatever," she mutters under her breath, with major attitude.
"Excuse me, but these aren't your babies. They're mine," I pointed at my tiny baby bump, "I think I'll pick out whatever baby items I want. I mean, I could always report you, as 'a bad worker, with a horrible attitude', and just never come back," I spat out at her. Passing by, and hearing my words. A man walks down to where we were.
"Hello ma'am. I'm the manager of this store. I hear you're unhappy with our store. Is there anything I can do to convince you to shop here?" the man asks. He was a short man, with a receding hairline, and a large stomach. Despite his appearance, he seemed to be quite a jolly man.
"Why yes, your employee seems to have a problem with the crib I would like to by for my babies," I replied calmly.
"Trisha, is this true?" he asks the employee.
"No sir, she's just being a total bitch," she says, with that nasty attitude she has. The man looked outraged.
"Trisha, this was your final straw, and you are fired!" he yelled at her. She just shrugged and took off her employee vest, "whatev's," she shrugs again, turning and leaving the store.
"I apologize greatly for her behavior. Now, is there anything I can do to encourage you to buy from us?" the man asked, slightly nervous.
"Well sir, while she has been rude, I appreciate your concern. I would like to purchase this black baby crib, right here," I say, pointing to the crib.
"But of course! Allow me to grab the box from the back," he said with a smile, heading for the back of the store.
"Thank you sir. We'll be waiting at the register," Blake shouts out to him, and we head to the front.
After purchasing the crib, and assuring the man we would continue to buy things, despite the little fall out we had with that employee, we left the store, and headed to the mall exit. We didn't have to carry the box, because we had decided just to have it delivered. When we reached it, I saw that employee. Only she was sucking face with some guy. He looked really familiar. She looked over and got up from his lap. I saw his face and I almost fell down.
He gave me that stupid, signature smirk of his, and walked over with that nasty employee.
"What do you want, Tyler?" I heard Blake ask, putting me behind him, protecting me.
