Vihaan ~

My wife was feeling insecure about a woman who had no meaning in my life and it was on me to make sure that she never feels that way again. I had made many mistakes before she walked into my life and no matter how hard I tried, I will never be able to erase those mistakes but that did not mean that I would let Shivanya feel anything less than what she means to my, my entire life.

"Mom, yeh dekhiye, yeh colour Dad par accha lagega." her voice brought my attention back at herself instead of her thoughts.

(Mom, look at this. This colour will look good on Dad.)

"Haan beta, waise bhi inke paas iss shade mein koi bhi shirt nahi hai." Mom replied, agreeing with her.

(Yes, beta. Anyway, he doesn't have any shirt in this shade.)

"Beta dekh le, ab se yahi hone waala hai tere harr weekend ka." Dad, who was standing next to he sulked.

(Son, look. From now on, this is what every one of your weekends is going to be like.)

"Bol toh aap aise rahe ho jaise aap bada Mom ke bina ghar pe rehete ho, jahan bhi jaati hai aap khud hi piche nahi jaate unke?" I asked him, turning to look.

(You are speaking as if you actually stay at home without Mom. Wherever she goes, don't you always follow right behind her?)

"Haan mere baap, par dekh toh apni Maa ko. Itni sundar hai aur abhi tak samajh nahi paati hai ki koi aira gaira natthu khaira line maar ke chala jaata hai. Saath toh rehena hoga na." He crossed him arms over his chest and I felt conflicted about my feelings about his confession.

(Yes, son, but just look at your mother. She's so beautiful and still hasn't learned to notice when some random idiot flirts with her and walks away. Of course someone has to stay with her.)

"Maine suna Kavya office aayi thi?" he asked after a while.

(I heard Kavya came to the office?)

Yash. He could not keep his mouth shut to save his own life, that fucker.

"Haan. Arunachal Foods ki CFO hai woh." I replied to him.

(Yes, she is the CFO of Arunachal Foods.)

"Arunachal Foods ko drop karo. Humein nahi kaam karna hai uske saath." Dad said, all the earlier playfulness in his voice gone.

(Drop Arunachal Foods. We don't have to work with them.)

"Shivanya will kill me if I do that, Dad." I confessed honestly.

"Tell her that they are not paying enough." He countered.

"You know as well as I do that she will see right through that bullshit." I sighed.

"Bol toh tu sahi raha hai, tujhse zyada smart hai meri Shivanya." He agreed and i turned my head towards him to find him smiling at Maa and my Sunshine.

(You're right, you know. My Shivanya is smarter than you.)

"Meri Shivanya." I corrected him.

(My Shivanya.)

He looked at me then and instead of arguing, he smiled wider. "Haan," he said softly, almost to himself. "Teri Shivanya."
