Chapter Two

A month ago

"Elise honey please you have to come home just this week it would be great I promise you," my upset mother's voice comes out of my cell phone.

"You know I can't it's busy this time of year with all the hotels being really busy and all my appointments going on this week I can't mother sorry ."

I know I should go home and visit my family for fourth of July but it's summer and that means people wanting to rent out rooms while a beach is just thirty seconds away. I own my own hotel business here in Atlantic New Jersey, I started designs on my building industry when I was at a young age I didn't think I would be successful in business but look at me now, CEO of Hudson Hotel Enterprise and owner of many hotels around the world. Now I am expanding my hotels in Canada, Spain, and California so exciting.

"I know honey but I really want to see you and your father has been wanting to seeing you and everybody wants you to come home this year... please come home...," my mother just didn't know when to give up.

I was going to regret this...

"Okay I'll see what I can do but just dont get your hopes up okay don't want you to be disappointed when I can't go." and the tears come in...

"Oh god yes I'm sorry I'm crying sorry,"her voice cracking in the end I can hear her crying on the other line.

"Well I got to go good bye mother and goodnight to you."

"Okay I-I can't w-w- wait honey goodbye and good morning to you." then she hanged up the phone.

My parents moved to Europe four years ago and have been there since I was born and raised in Mississippi but went college in New York and came and lived here with my best friend Greg. I have been friends with Greg since diaper days, I once had a big crush on him but didn't tell him then that crush became a bigger thing and once I told him he laughed and told me he didn't like me, so I did what any girl would do punch him the face, my knuckles hurt but I did give him a good black eye.

After a few days I calmed down and called him and told him sorry that same day he came over and said sorry too he had laughed because he came told me he was extremely gay and we became even closer since then we have became inseparable. He is a doctor very good one too but still single why you ask because he doesn't see how many guys go after him or ladies that don't see he goes for the opposite team, I didn't understand why he was friends with a nerdy, fat, loner girl that was a nobody in school because he could of been popular but no he stuck with old boring me.

Why? Is the question I have been asking myself all these years.

My phone started ringing and the name I wanted to talk to is calling me. Jake my boyfriend of three years.

Jake and I met at a dumb concert that Greg dragged me to, I didn't want to go but I'm glad I did.

"Hey babe I'm staying here at the office tonight got a lot of work is that fine with you."

Ugh this again he has been doing that for sometime now, but he is an account and a very busy man with new and important clients that are interested with working with him.

"Babe are you there."

"Yeah I'm here um sure stay at the office okay I'll see tomorrow right," I asked.

"Can't babe sorry I'm visiting my parents this weekend sorry I didn't tell you I'll make it up to you next week okay... alright I got to go see you next week okay bye." and hangs up on me.
