Calum's P. O. V.
"Are you sure about this?" My sister asked on the next line.
"Yeah, she's definitely the one.." I said mostly to myself. I heard my sister laugh in my ear. "What?"
"Well, I've never seen you so lovesick before." She laughed again.
I laughed as well because she was right. "Yeah, I know. But it's just the way she makes me feel."
"I know the feeling, when I first met Daryl, he made me feel so brand new and in a good way." She rambled about her husband of two years.
I nodded even though she couldn't see me. "Exactly, that's how I feel with Jayla."
She sighed. "I honestly think you should go for it, she's a keeper."
I laughed at her. "You're just saying that because you like her."
She laughed. "Maybe, but it doesn't get any better than that. Is she still mad at you?" She added.
"Yeah, but I've learned that she's not seeing anyone though. Guess it was my imagination."
"And what about that so called best friend of yours, how's that going for you?" She asked and I can hear the frown in her voice, can almost see it too.
"Well, I did what I should've done two years when Jayla warned me of her, end our 'friendship'." I said with a sigh.
"Has it been that long since the two of you had spoken to one another?" She asked.
"Yeah, wow come to think of it, it's been a while." Two years, but we've been dating for months.
I heard talking in the background and a bit of shuffling. "Uh oh, baby's awake. I have to go now little brother, call me if she says yes, Okay?" She said. "Oh, and happy birthday!"
"Okay, will do. Thanks and Bye sis." I hung up. I lie there, staring up at the ceiling with head full of thoughts on how to make this up to Jayla. I already knew what I was going to do, but the question is, will she accept?
I got out of bed and heading straight for the shower. After freshing up, I threw on some jeans and a black pullover and grabbed my car keys. I knew exactly where she was, which sounded weird, but hey I dated her for a long time. I pulled into the parking lot of the familiar coffee shop and got out of the car. I made sure I smelled nice and headed for the entrance. When I walked in, I immediately regretted it when the bell above me made a loud noise indicating that someone just arrived. I looked over behind the counter to see if she was looking, but she was too busy taking orders. I stopped for a moment just to admire her beauty, even though she was wearing her usual work uniform and there were stains of coffee all over her apron, she looked gorgeous. Her hair was in a messy ponytail and her cheeks were flushed from air conditioning in the room. Few strands of hair fell in her eyes as she wiped her face with the back of her hand. I walked towards the short line of customers, standing behind a bald guy with a heavy figure.
"Next!" She shouted as the big guy in front of me left the line with his coffee.
"Hey.." I barely whispered when we became face to face.
She froze in her spot at the sight of me and I fought myself from kissing her frown away.
"Calum?" She whispered. She cleared her throat. "What will you be having?"
"Can I have a frappé with lots of whipped cream?" I asked.
She punched numbers into the cash register. "Anything else?"
"Yes, and for you to marry me?" I asked while looking at my hands. I heard the punches stop and looked up to her face.
Jayla's P. O. V.
I couldn't believe what I've just heard, did Calum just.....
"Jay?" He waved a hand in my face. I snapped back to reality and realized that my co worker was eyeing me with a knowing look.
"Jay, you can leave now, your shifts over." She said with a wink. I nodded and took off my apron as Calum waited for me.
After I was done getting my stuff, purse, phone, etc, and headed out the shop with Calum hot on my heels. What was he thinking, proposing to me when we weren't even together. I looked around the parking lot, and nearly cursed myself for getting a ride to work and now I needed one back home. I felt Calum grasped my hand in his, stealing my attention.
"Jayla, listen to me-"
"-No Calum, you listen to me. You didn't even bother to care that I broke up with you, you were so hung on your best friend, that I didn't matter to you." My voice cracked at the end and I mentally slapped myself in the head for it.
"Jayla, she and I were never dating, and I ended our friendship. I'm so sorry I just let you slip like that from me, I was so jealous that you had found another guy on me." He said with the saddest look on his face.
"I wasn't seeing anyone after you.." I admitted. I couldn't see another person, not since I was still madly in love with him.
"I know, I found that out when it was too late and you wanted nothing to do with me anymore." He said as he stuffed his hands in his pockets.
He looked so cute, gosh it's been so long since I've actually looked at him. He was growing a stubble and his hair was a bit longer, but he had a clean shave and boy was he taller. Those same plump, pink lips were frowning at me and I didn't even realized what I was doing when I stood on my toes and kissed him. It wasn't a long, passionate kiss, it was short, sweet and meaningful.
"What was that for?" He asked.
"I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss you, I realized that until the moment you walked through that coffee shop door. Those same eyes that- never mind." I stopped myself from reminiscing about what we used to have.
"It's been so long now, years even, and I finally know what I want, it's you. I made a mistake by letting you go the first time, and I'm sorry." He said and I want to jump in his arms, besides he's apologized enough.
"How do I know you won't do this again?" Nevertheless, I asked.
He got on one knee and this time he pulled out a black box and opened it, inside was the most beautiful ring I've ever seen. "Because, there won't be another time, not unless I'm stuck with you."
I laughed at that part, and creepy as it sounds, being stuck with Calum was okay with me. "Calum, did you planned this?"
He nodded. "Kind of, but either way, the balls in your court. What do you say?"
I nodded at him and he got up on his two feet and kissed me, this time passionately and long. "I love you."
"I love you too." He said. "Can we leave now, I'm hungry." He added and I couldn't help but laugh.
"You're always hungry, Calum." I said which earned me a quick kiss.
We went to his car and left the coffee place with a happy and positive attitude.
