I looked down after hearing the doorbell. There was a rose on the welcome mat. Followed by a small card.

It read, "Jessica, I'm so sorry I was such a ____! (you use whatever word you want, baby) I am here to tell you I can't go on like this. Look up."

I slowly moved my focus towards those beautiful eyes with a sorrowful look.
