She couldn't believe it. What had she done? She had helped him get Steve out of all this chaos, but ended up helping him, and everyone else ended up trapped in a cage.
''Sorry.'' She was sobbing. She couldn't hold back her tears. ''Sorry, I didn't mean for this to happen.'' She approached the red mutant and her lightning-fast brother.
Despite their efforts to remain calm, Clint and Sam felt a surge of anger rising within them. They exchanged tense glances, their frustration boiling over as they confronted her. The girl stood before them, her large, tear-filled eyes reflecting a mixture of regret and fear, yet it seemed to have no impact in softening their hearts. Without hesitating, they unleashed their accusations, their voices sharp and unyielding, leaving no room for compassion in that moment.
The young man with blond hair, furious, rushed to put them in their place. They were bullying the girl he cared for more than anyone, after his sister. He couldn't accept being called names when all she wanted was to protect the man she loved. She never intended to harm them, nor could she know her godfather's plans.
"It's not your fault, girl." He said in his strong accent and approached the bars of the cell. But as soon as he went to touch her shoulder to comfort her, an electric shock hit him, and he doubled over.
Alice, terrified, covered her mouth with her hands, hoping he would be okay. She would find a way to get them out of there. Unfortunately, her magic couldn't do anything.
The door opened slowly. She was overcome with disgust when she saw the person who entered. She couldn't bear to be in the same room with him. She said goodbye to the children and, without glancing at him, she left.
She returned home and wondered what had happened to her boyfriend, where they were, and what to do. She didn't know that his thoughts were travelling to her eyes.
She opened the closet. There, her uniform stood proudly, almost stained with blood. What price had she paid to wear it and be a part of his team? The answer was very high. She heard the door slam shut behind her—Tony had returned and was making his way to his office.
''You should be ashamed of yourself. Was that the plan? How could you?'' The girl screamed as she entered the office. She hadn't seen him since the previous day in the children's prison, and to be honest, this was the first conversation she had had with him in three days.
''No, because I did it for the good of everyone.''
''Everyone?'' She nodded. "'Cause I don't see those unfortunate twins having fun being chained to cells that shoot out electric shocks."
''They chose it.''
''Wrong. You chose it for them. Probably not, you forced it on them.'' She shouted. ''They just fought for what they believed was right.''
''Like your lover. Did you know? Tell me, did you know? Did you know that bastard killed my mother and father?"
She didn't speak for a few seconds. He had met with Steve and Bucky and learned the truth.
