As the days passed, they were approaching the end of the school year, just before the students' exams. Alice was in the classroom once again, teaching her students. Another school year was about to conclude, marking another year of her life spent far from New York, with no news from the people she loved. It had been nearly two years since she last fought for the good of the world.
On one hand, this situation brought her a sense of hope. As a child, she had played a role in saving the world, whether it was for her friends or for humanity. Yet, she was tired—exhausted, to be precise. Perhaps it was for the best that things had turned out this way; she simply needed to return to a routine, to lead an everyday life and experience what she considered a normal existence.
Her childhood had been marked not just by the friends, love, and joy she received from her loved ones, but also by significant pain and death. She felt she could no longer endure it. She needed a break or maybe even a choice for a peaceful life moving forward.
"Today, even though we are nearing the end of the year, I would like to give you a lesson that will be useful when you become fourth-year students. A lesson that I will try to make as simple as possible, focused on the three unforgivable curses."
The students exchanged bewildered glances. Some of them had siblings and parents who knew about these things, while others had lost their parents and become orphans at a very young age. A few raised their hands to answer the first two curses, leaving only one that had become Alice's speciality.
"And the last is... the killing curse.""
"Exactly, the bloodiest curse of all. The worst. Only one person has ever survived this curse."
"Two" A voice was heard, as low as a whisper.
"McLangen, please repeat what you said, my child."
"Two, ma'am," Alice asked him in surprise why he was saying that. "I read, ma'am, that along with 'the boy who lived, there was another child, a girl who is not so well recognised."
Alice smiled warmly, genuinely impressed by the child's depth of knowledge, which stirred a flood of vivid memories from her own past. "Indeed," she said with a spark of enthusiasm, "since your classmate has given me this wonderful opportunity, I would love to share an intriguing story with you. It's one that has always held a special place in my heart and I believe you'll find it fascinating."
Many years ago, when the dark lord still ruled and ended the lives of innocent souls, both wizards and muggles alike, he came across a prophecy. It foretold of a young boy who would pose a threat to him. Determined to eliminate this child, the dark lord went to the boy's home with the intent to kill. However, the boy's parents fought fiercely to protect him. In a desperate act, the mother cast a powerful spell, and just as the dark lord attempted to harm her son, he was defeated instead. This confrontation resulted in his own death, but it also left a fragment of his soul within the infant.
