"SLYTHERIN" the sorting hat screamed to the school.
Lori beamed with pride as the Slytherin table erupted into cheers, all except for Oliver.
Lori's smile intensified as she realised her parents were Slytherin's too, the hat had said so.
She took her place as the rest of the students were sorted. Dumbledore stood and made his speeches about the rules then the feast began.
Lori had seen the feast before but was never allowed to attend. Tucking her black and blonde hair behind her ears Lori began to fill her plate with a bit of everything.
As she began to eat a girl with chocolate brown hair and grey eyes turned to her.
"I'm Jessica Parker, but everyone calls me Jessy" she held out her hand.
Lori shook the extended hand "I'm Loriana but I go by Lori"
The girl smiled and they began to chat as the feast continued.
As the night went on and all the dessert had been devoured, Dumbledore stood and asked the prefects to lead their houses back to the dormitories. He bid them all good night.
Lori was excited this was the first time she was allowed in a dormitory. She knew the that Slytherin's was in the dungeons but not what the inside looked like.
She gasped as she noticed the black lake could be seen and it gave the dormitory a murky green appearance. It was perfect.
"Girls sleep upstairs to the left and boys downstairs on the right" the prefect announced she did not know his name.
Lori and Jessy practically flew up the stairs to their new rooms. The girls made sure their beds were next to each other, then introduced themselves to their other class mates.
Karli, Lyra and Gwen shared their dorm. The girls stayed up well I to the night talking about classes and stupid boys.
The morning came too soon and Lori was already running late for her first class. After a hurried breakfast with Jessy the two girls sprinted to potions arriving only seconds before Snape breathing hard.
Snape gave them a run down of what they would be learning, Lori found it fascinating however unfortunately she and Jessy got stuck with Oliver at her table.
It was obvious that the boy was a favourite of Snapes but he annoyed Lori so much that the moment Snape turned his back Lori stuck Oliver's nose in a jar of frog eggs.
"I hate him, he's like a walking toad" Lori fumed to Jessy
" I know but he is a Slytherin. He is in all our classes you need to be able to at least tolerate him" Jessy said
Their next class was with Madam Hooch. She was going to teach them to ride a broom.
The children stood next to their brooms and shouted "up"
Everyone managed to get their brooms to their hands after a while. Lori and Oliver has managed it their first try.
Madam hooch got them to take turns hovering in the air for a few seconds. When it came to Lori's turn she hovered but something felt wrong. As she went to touch down her broom shot forward.
"Lori" she heard Jessy yell as she lost control of the broom.
Lori clung to the broom as it rose higher and higher. Suddenly the broom flipped forward sending Lori tumbling to the ground.
As she screamed strong arms wrapped around Lori and her fall slowed. She and her saviour hit he ground hard but not life threateningly so.
Lori glanced at her saviour it was Oliver " you saved me" she whispered falling unconscious with only the sound of madam hooch screaming " foolish boy you could have been killed" ringing in her ears.
