Stephanie's POV

A few hours after I woke up I went to ask missy if I was allowed to walk around the neighborhood.

"Yeah sure! But don't run away! And you know I know if u run away. Because of your anklet tracker!" She said.

She had put a anklet tracker on everyone in the orphanage just incase they ran away.

I decided to go to the park. And walk around.

I had arrived at the park and I went on the swings.

I was joined by a boy. And the first thing I noticed about him was his eyebrows.

"Hello my name is jack gilinsky!" He said with excitement.

"H-hi." I said shyly.

(A/N just for a little bit jack is 12 so yeah)

"Where's your parents?" He asked.

"Um they died when I was little." I replied looking down.

"Oh I'm sorry. Are you here alone?" He asked once again.

"Um yes." I replied.

"Oh you lost?"

"N-no. I live in a orphanage down the street."

He replied with a oh type of look.

"What's your name?"

"Stephanie."

We talked for a little and he was really nice. I was happy that I had made my first friend.

"I uh gotta go eat dinner. I'll see you later jack gilinsky!" I said and ran back to the orphanage.

"Bye Steph!" He yelled as I ran.

Next day

Gilinsky's POV

"Mom can I ask you something?" I asked my mom at breakfast.

"Yes" she replied.

"Well you know that girl I met yesterday? Well she lives in a orphanage and she said she only sleeps on a mattress with a thin blanket. And she has to eat slop all the time!" I said hoping that she will get the concept that I wanted her to adopt Steph.

"Well I know where your going with it and I like it. I would love to adopt her! We just gotta get it by your father first!" She said.

My eyes lit up with joy. As my mom went to go ask my dad.

She came back in with her purse.

"Don't you want to come with!" She said. I jumped up and got on my shoes.

At the orphanage

We got there and went inside. It was a dark place and didn't look fun at all. We approached our way to the front office.

A lady greeted us and told us that she was Ms.Missy the director.

"Hello! Are you here to adopt?" She asked with a fake smile.

"Yes we are." Mom said back.

"Ok here you go." She said as she handed us a book of everyone here.

We scrolled through the pages looking for her.

"There!" I said pointing to Stephanie.

"Ah yes. Such a sweet girl!" She said with another one of her fake smiles.

"Just fill these out. They are about how you now have custody of her and what her new last name is. Etc. Etc." she said handing mom some papers.

Missy then excused herself to go get her while we filled out these papers. Well while mom did and I just watched.

Stephanie POV

I was in my room getting ready for the day when there was a knock on the door.

"Stephanie?" Missy said opening the door.

"Yes ma'am?" I said kinda scared.

Oh what did I do now?!? Was it because I didn't eat dinner? Oh I hope she doesn't beat me again. I thought.

"There are some people who want to adopt you. So get your crap together and go to my office." She said sternly and closed the door.

"No way!" I said filled with excitement and gathering all of my clothes and my bunny in my small suit case.

I didn't have a lot of clothes so I was down stairs in 5 minutes.

I walked into the office and saw the boy from yesterday and I think his mom.

"Ready to go?" Her sweet voice said sticking out her hand.

"Yes ma'am" I said politely and grabbed her hand.

Dang I'm not going to miss this place!
