Chapter 4 : The Attack

Flashback

Garry bumps into Khole on her first day in college.
The childhood hate is rekindled as both Garry and Khole battle out with words.
However, Khole's day isn't worse after all, she thought. She makes new friends but a fallen ring exposes the hidden secrets of these girls.
Garry shows up from nowhere and delivers a mind-blowing news.
Now everyone including Khole, should be on the run.

Everybody at the cafeteria starts running for their life. Tables and chairs flying around the room is enough to make anyone terrified.

"Esmeralda, can you explain to Khole here what's at stake?.. We need to run. She has to brush our relationship aside and save ourselves".. Garry's last words was full of concern.

"Khole, he's right." You can sort out your differences later. But now is not the not the time".. Esmeralda tried to make me see sense in what Garry said.

Anne at this point was shaking. "What do we do ?".. her voice breaking all the way through her sentence.
Okay, everyone should follow me. And oh, please do as i say ".. Garry finished.

Meanwhile, the Kryphoenix have marched round the entire school area. People were being attacked and several buildings in the school were set on fire.
The scent of blood and fear filled the atmosphere such that i nearly threw up.

We fought our way to the main exist of the cafeteria, certain that we are out of danger.

I gave out a loud scream when out of nowhere an ugly creature with an almost deafening wail and blood -stained wings like a bat landed infront of me.

I screamed again and took four defenceless steps back. I could feel the effect of adrenaline as it ran up my veins. The ugly creature confidently moved cunningly towards me. As if i was an easy prey.

In a twinkle of seconds, i slapped it with my open left hand full across the face. It rocked him and he took a step back then steadied himself , ready for a next attack. It tragically pounced on me but i was too quick to jump out of the way, almost paralyzed.

Gary out of nowhere, yanked him back with his right forearm, snapping the creature's head like a tree branch.
I stood motionless, absorbing what i just saw as Garry carried me to the others hideout.

After a long tiresome hide and run, we were finally out of the cafeteria.

"Oh my gosh, what the bloody hell was that?".. wrinkles of surprise appeared on my forehead.
I could see Garry's face betraying his innocence. "Those creatures you encountered are called krytophoenixs and they are very dangerous beings. You can call them dark killers but they are after something priceless to them. I don't know what they are after yet but if they haunt us, then it means one of us has something priceless to offer them" .. he explained.

"I know why..."... said Anne. Its because of Khole. Her ring reminds me an ancient queen who once defeated them with this ring. This ring only passed on to next-in-line to the throne. Everyone was surprised, including me.

"For now, everybody needs to get prepared for a long journey to a sacred temple where we will all gain safety. I'll be there to get you all at 8pm at Anne's hostel"... Garry suggested and ran off.

"Wait!, what about my parents and siblings?. Am i just gonna vanish into thin air?"... i protested.

"No Khole, the last thing you'll want for them is to risk their lives. If you return home, those creatures will track them down to know your whereabouts. The kindest thing they will do is torturing them to death".. Mariela said while she drew her arms around me.
Okay dear, lets get some rest before tonite's long journey... Esmeralda broke in.

I simply obeyed and first had a warm shower before resting on a soft fluffy couch.
I woke around 7:30pm, just staring at the beautiful ceiling in the room. My mind still wandering on the happenings of the day. "Why did my worse enemy save me "... i was thinking deeply about this.

I sat up quickly when i heard footsteps in the corridor. I grabbed a bottle of Champaign as a weapon. The door flung open and there stood Garry.

What happens next?

Will they make it on time before another attack by the krytophoenix?

Is Khole ready to sacrifice her normal life yet?
