Chapter 5 : The Journey

The door barged open and my heart began to beat almost fast. Are we ready to go?
"Yes, he smiled." Garry handed over to me a small travelling bag containing some clothes he specially picked and asked me to wear the black dress for tonight's journey. He gave the other three girls the same bag as mine.

I quickly checked the small bag. It contained blankets, not just clothes but black, green, white dresses. And in it were cosmetics too. I sighed. Luckily, he bought all these.

"Okay turn around, am about to get changed." I said in a way he couldn't do anything but turn.
The dress felt right on my skin. It was the right size too. Its warm inside. Waw, this guy is smarter than i thought. I finished it with a black jacket.

"You can turn now" i said calmly.
His eyes seemed to sparkle with surprise when he saw me after turning around. Part of me desperately wanted to hear him say " you look gorgeous" but another part of me just said "get over it. He's not doing that ".
He simply said " you look lovely". That was more than enough to hear. It's much more sweeter.

The other girls finished dressing in black and we all had something small to eat before we run away. Luckily, black dresses would conceal our detection when running from those krytophoenixes. Besides, black easily blends in the dark.

We walked for several hours around the city until Garry finally told us to move to a dark corner near a store.

Garry pulled something out of his pocket. It looked like a ring joined to a chain. He gently placed the chain around his neck. Just then i saw something gradually growing behind his back. I was awestruck. I saw a shadow of a black pair wings behind him.

"Garry, are those w..ing..s?. Still awestruck.
"Yes, they are" he said. Wait till you the girls too.

My head spun around to the direction of Esmeralda and the other two girls almost instantaneously.

I couldn't see it well, but Esmeralda seemed to have different shades of green feathers. Mariela also had big brown wings with black tipped feathers.

Anne's pair of wings were awesome. Different shades of gray feathers.

Mine... i remembered i don't have wings. I was happy to see them with their new appearance but i couldn't hide my disappointments.

Gary slowly got closer to me and whispered something into my ears.. he told me to same the exact phrase onto my ring. I didn't understand the phrase but out of desperation i imitated the exact sound.

I knew something was wrong with my system immediately i finished the phrase. I was visibly trembling. My body was growing a little broader ( because i was a very slim person ) and taller.

I suddenly could hear about a trillion voices in my head and that really hurts. I heard two guys talking about how to ambush a pedestrian and rob him. The pain subsided in no time.

I could smell different things. My sense of smell heighten as well. My night vision got wonderful. It was very accurate and clear. I saw everything clearly like daytime, but my new night vision was spectacular.

My shoulder blades felt sore such that i couldn't stand. I had to squat for few minutes before the pain subsided. The pain wasn't totally gone, i only felt it a little.

I nearly jumped in when i touched feathers behind me. They were very huge and muscular wings with resemblance to Garry's wings. Different shades of dark blue and it had the whitest of feathers around my wingline. They looked stunning.

"Khole finally has her wings, we need to go" he said in a happy-hidden voice.

Esmeralda took off first. In a minute, she was up there in the night sky. Anne followed and Mariela took off after Anne.

Garry told me to trust my instincts. He showed me how to flap my wings together to create more power for take off. It didn't work any better for me. I almost sprained a leg whie trying.

Garry held my hands and move to face me directly. We both flapped our wings back-and-forth and i knew i was up in the air.

The feeling was indescribable. I was thrown off balance when i looked down from our newly attained height. "Wow, take your time to enjoy the scene"... Esmeralda caught me mid air and helped me soar up again.

"Yes, Khole trust your wings and your instincts. Your wings will never falter if you trust them".. i said this over and over in my head.

I imitated all the others as the flew and soon i was good to go. "Flying wasn't difficult after all" i smiled.

We flew several miles and for many hours. I never got tired, thinking this would end when i wake up.

We contined to fly and occasionally saw beautiful estates, dams and several tall buildings. Its fun.

"Khole, are you enjoying the ride?".. i nearly got off balance. "Anne?".. i said half chocked by air.
"Don't worry, you can also communicate through thoughts when in flight. "

"Wow, cool"... I focused my thoughts to Anne. I guess she heard me because she also replied " alright, girl "
