"Check his body," Michael ordered.
One wolf, Cody and one human, J.P. pulled me out from under Tyler by the fire. My legs felt so weak I couldn't even stand, and I was so sore that I dreaded sitting. Tyler was watching me as if my life depended on it. He couldn't seem to sit still anywhere. The rest of the wolves and Dillon blocked his view. I still couldn't miss Tyler peeking over their backs to get a good look at me.
J.P. was lifting my arms and Cody my legs as they checked my body for scratches or bites. I tried not to feel humiliated. It took longer than I thought it would and they left no stone unturned on me. There was shifting from the others as they watched. A name I won't mention remained excited between his legs. There was scuffling and shuffling of Tyler whining as he tried to examine me.
No one said anything for a long time.
"All clear," Cody said with a smile on his face.
"They passed the test!" Nathan shouted as they let him through.
Tyler still looked concerned as he did everything but trample on everyone's feet to get to me. He started to examine me as if in disbelief. His eyes searched everything as he took lifted my limbs to double check. The others were laughing with each other and were backing off one by one to run off into the woods except Nathan and Michael. They stood and held their mates close to them as they walked back to the fire.
"Tyler I'm ok," I said when he went to triple check. "I'm just sore in that one spot where you know...."
Tyler just stared at me with his dark eyes.
"Tyler stop it. You're making me self-conscious," I whined. When really, all I wanted more time with Tyler alone. Since I couldn't have that, I wanted clothes again.
That earned me one of Tyler winning wicked grins and he pulled me into his arms.
"I didn't know what was going to happen when it felt that good," Tyler said into mostly in my hair, "But didn't you feel it? Our mother's blessings?"
I think he was sniffing me. At least he seemed satisfied.
"When I felt like the sky swallowed us or something," I replied into his shoulder.
Tyler grabbed me by the shoulder but still gently to face me, "Yes that exactly it!"
He held me again while I tried to keep my sore butt off the ground.
"Tyler," I said into his shoulder again, "It feels like you splintered me."
His body shook with his silent laughter.
"Love is so strong that it hurts sometimes," he said with his breath into my hair as he stroked my head and back.
"Love beat me with a sledgehammer in the gut," I replied sarcastically.
Tyler kissed the back of my neck softly as he continued to hold me. We sat like that for a while until the wind blew by causing me to shiver slightly. Once Tyler caught that, he wrapped his body a little more around me. He nuzzled my neck affectionately when Nathan brought us a blanket.
We thanked him as Tyler took it and wrapped it around us then he positioned me lightly in front of him so my back was against his chest. I saw that everyone came back after their little run. They were mostly clothed too. The grill had gotten started up and there was food being cooked over the camp fire. It crackled, and I longed to be near the warmth with Tyler. We sat furthest from everyone as they got a banquet together. The wolf who I'd call, Nameless was working with the grill seasoning what looked like hamburgers and boneless chicken. J.P. was making pigs in a blanket with the twins and Cody. Michael was heating hotdogs over the campfire while Dillon was doing the same shortly after.
