Recap
"I had a really great time Rhi" he said looking back up into my eyes.
"Me too" I said struggling to hid the smile that was forcing its way onto my lips. Connor nervously scratched the back of his head still looking at me. He slowly leaned his head closer to mine pressing his lips to mine. I was stunned at first but slowly started to kiss him back. Our lips moved together in perfect sync and it was amazing. I pulled away slowly, resting my forehead against Connor's.
"You look beautiful tonight" he whispered, his cool breath tickling my nose.
"You don't look too shabby yourself" I chuckled before he reconnected our lips once more. We both pulled away at the same time before exchanging hushed goodnights.
I walked in the door of my house and let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. I couldn't wipe the smile off my face if I tried. I slowly started to walk up stairs and flopped down onto my bed. I kicked my shoes off and got into my pyjamas before slipping under the blankets and I fell asleep quickly with a huge smile still plastered on my face.
Saturday Morning
I woke up bright and early even though I only got about six hours sleep. Stretching out my awkward limbs, I hauled my tired body out of my criminally comfortable bed. I sat on the edge of my bed for at least five minutes, recapping the previous nights' events to myself, smiling like a total idiot.
My blissful thoughts were then clouded by a certain dark-haired boy called Zachary. I was still so mad at him for what he did, but the more and more I thought about it, the worse I felt about how I had reacted towards him. There was a raging war going on in my head between the part of me that wanted to be mad at him and the part of me that didn't. I pushed all those thoughts aside and lugged myself off my bed and down the long set of stairs leading down to the kitchen.
I was greeted by my apron-clad mother at the stove frying bacon and eggs and newspaper-reading father. They both looked up at me with warm smiling faces. My mum, dropping the spatula that was in her hands and wiping her hands on her apron, walked over to me placing a firm grip on both of my shoulders.
"So... how did last night go" she queried, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively. I groaned loudly in response, walking over to the now burning pan of bacon and eggs, quickly flipping its contents on to plates and serving them to my parents.
"Oh honey, don't be embarrassed. Your father and I went on plenty of dates when we were young. It's nothing to be ashamed about. We're all God's children, it's no big deal" my mum assured me, looking over at my dad who was nodding along with her.
"Oh my God, we never should have rented Easy A" I sighed regretfully looking up at my parents who were both snickering behind their hands. I stuffed the remaining bacon into my mouth before retreating back up to my room, slamming the door loudly, only earning more laughter from my parents downstairs.
Yet again, my mind wandered back to Zach. I still felt terrible. I picked up my charging phone off my bedside table, opening up a new text to Zach. I tapped out a quick 'sorry', pressing the send button. My phone buzzed almost instantly, the screen lighting up with a new text from Zach. It read, 'I'm so sorry for what I did. I was an asshole and I was out of line. Please forgive me, I really want to be friends but I still stand by my comment that you need to be careful around him'. Shaking my head, I tapped out a response saying that I forgave him and that I was a big girl and that I didn't new his protection. Thus earning a long thank you text followed by a request to hang out. God this boy was strange. After a few text back and forth between us, we agreed on meeting at the little coffee shop around the corner from his house. I made myself presentable before sauntering out the door and waving goodbye to my parents.
