In her mindscape Lucy is walking through a narrow, unkept forest trail. She didn't recognize the wood nor did she know where the trail is leading her, the forest felt welcoming and warm for some odd reason, as she walked forward Lucy kept her guard up until she felt an immense amount of magical power similar to Natsu's ahead of her. at that moment she eased her guard a little until she saw the trail open into a spacious area that had quite a large lake in the center.
Lucy stared at the middle of the lake, looking at the disturbances, seconds after she heard what sounded like humongous wing beats, which made her look up. When she did her eyes widened in shock and amazement, above her was a scarlet scaled dragon that had to be none other than Igneel. "So dragons are still alive." Lucy said in a shocked tone. As Igneel landed the ground below shook, causing Lucy to loose balance and fall over in the grassy area.
"So you must be my boys potential mate, Lucy right?" Igneel inquired, his voice booming, almost shaking the trees. His face looking straight at Lucy with asking eyes
"Yes, since he told me before I fell asleep, you must be Igneel. You fit the description that Natsu gave me perfectly. I thought dragons were gone though?" Lucy answered and came back with one, looking at the giant quizzically and saw the answer in his eyes. "Wait, you're nothing but Igneel's soul right? That's why Natsu can't find you!" Lucy spoke looking at the scarlet dragon who looked down in surprise.
"You're quite sharp for your young age, my boy is lucky. Yes I'm nothing but a ghost that will disappear after Natsu mates. Which in my perspective isn't very long, before I leave I wanted to speak with Natsu's potential mate." Igneel said to the blonde, who then looked up waiting for what he was going to tell her. After a minute passed, the scaly dad spoke "There is a way for me to stay with him. When dragons die, we become stars that can be collected by celestial mages." Igneel looked at Lucy, whose mouth is wide open at this statement. She never knew that dragons became celestial spirits, the dragon could tell by her agape expression. "So when you disappear, you will leave a key for Natsu since he will be able to use celestial magic?" The girl inquired.
"Yes my girl, in fact ill give it to you the next time I see you for a final goodbye, but instead of one key, I can give two, since my soul is already split in two so you will be getting one. Please teach him how to summon me when he obtains my key, I know he can be dense but if its connected to me-" Lucy cut him off and finished his sentence "He will do anything, I know I've already been on adventures where someone had 'spotted' a dragon." Lucy sighed as the memories flowed into her mind. "I will teach him how, it might be difficult though." Lucy looked at the now chuckling dragon who said "He will get it. He's my stubborn son." When the scarlet dragon said this, the blonde chuckled. "I should be waking up soon, it was nice to meet you and have a normal conversation." The blonde looked up at her almost father-in-law (A/N they will basically be married right?) and smiled after, Igneel took his leave from the forest leaving Lucy there in her dream.
Lucy woke up with arms around her chest and soft, warm snores in her ear. She laid there for a few minutes and after slowly slipped away without waking him.
