Truth

Lucy walked into the room she was sharing with Natsu and found him sitting at the dining room table eating chicken that he brought with him on the job. "Hey Luce, how was your soak? Who was with you? I smell someone different." Natsu asked his partner who was now in the bathroom getting dressed for bed, she dressed in a light pink shirt with white sleep shorts.

"I ran into Levy in the hot spring, we talked for a bit. The soak was amazing." Lucy answered. She sat on the other side of the table where Natsu is sitting after going over to him and giving him a quick kiss.

'Does she know how amazing she smells? This is killing me!' He thought to himself, "That's great, so what did you two talk about? And why did I smell metalhead on you earlier?" Natsu asked in an irritated tone trying to get his mind off of her scent. 'He looks cute when he's irritated' Lucy thought. "Well... Levy and Gajeel are kinda... mated. That's probably why you smell him." Lucy said, feeling awkward, thinking about the subject she wanted to bring up, 'This is probably the best time.' She thought looking at the angry looking dragonslayer which had her confused. "What's wrong Natsu? You've been acting weird lately, and you always call me weird." Lucy asked

"Bolts for brains mated before me! Man I thought... well never mind." Natsu stopped himself from saying anything in front of Lucy.

"You can tell me Natsu I'm here for you." Lucy comforted her best friend and teammate by sitting close enough for him to wrap his arms around her waist. Minutes went by and still the dragonslayer sat there silent. After a couple hours passed they were now sitting on the couch centered in the middle of their suite, cuddling. Natsu looked down at Lucy in his arms and sighed. "Well, since you want to know I'll tell ya, but you might not like it." The fire mage hesitated, after a minute and then spoke. "So Luce, you know how I was raised by a dragon who taught me almost everything I know? In return I inherited the habits, magic, and seasonal clock that dragons have, Which also means that I also go by their mating season, which happens to be right now. Also much like dragons have one mate, so do dragonslayers. They chose one mate and spend their life together with him or her." Natsu waited for his cute blonde partner to register what he just said. In a few seconds her doe eyes got wide, she looked up at the dragonslayer and asked him in a serious note "So, does that mean... that I'm your mate? That cant be right though because my guild mark is still the same as always, I saw Levy's and it had a black outline-"

Natsu cut her off. "Whoa whoa, Luce slow down. The only way that would happen is if we had sex." When he said that, Lucy's chocolate eyes widened. "I know you don't want to do it yet, so I'll wait until you're ready and I'm pretty sure Levy's already told you what happens after, and I know you are wondering, yes you are my potential mate. That's why I'm very protective over you, like always." He chuckles and kisses her blonde head.

Hours pass by as the pair talk aimlessly about almost everything until Lucy yawned. "Hey Natsu? I'm headed to bed, if you wanted to come. She turned and headed toward the plush, king sized bed with Natsu right at her heels.

Lucy unfolded the sheets and laid down, she soon felt her partners strong arms snake around her waist and pulled her close, She felt safe. Soon enough she felt herself drifting away from the real world.
