"Are you going to follow him again tonight?" Toni asked from the other line. For the past week, I've followed Corey without him noticing. Each day Corey received more and more threats from Jase

"Yup." I said.

"Okay well I'm going to sleep, goodnight!" She said. I knew she was annoyed with this but Corey was in trouble.

"Goodnight." I said, hanging up. I put on my shoes and climbed out of my window and down the fire escape. I pulled out a smoke, while I waited for Corey. I saw him walk past, slowly. I waited thirty seconds and then started walking behind him. We finally reached Jase's house and I hid behind the fence.

"Thanks." Jase said.

"Yea, yea." Corey said, softly.

"Here have a drink."

"I really shouldn't-"

"Take it! I'm trying to be nice to you. You're such an idiot!" Jase yelled.

"S-sorry."

"Gosh, you're so annoying." Some girl said.

"I said I was sorry." Corey said, raising his voice.

"Are you talking back?!" Jase yelled, followed by something breaking and a thud, like something hitting the ground.

"Now get out of here." The girl laughed. The door opened and Corey walked out. He walked past me and I got up and followed him. A block later he stopped and leaned against a street light. I stopped and hid behind a tree that was close by. He slid down and I heard small cries.

"I'm such a fuck up." He cried.

"Corey?" I whispered but loud enough for him to hear.

"What do you want?" He said, looking up.

"Are you okay?" I asked, kneeling down in front of him.

"Go away." He said, standing up and walking away.

"Corey..." I said, walking after him.

"What?" He said, stopping and looking at me. He had a bruise and multiple cuts on his face. I pulled down my sleeve and wiped the tears that escaped his eyes.

"You're a mess, who did this?" I asked, even though I knew who it was.

"Why do you care? Just fuck off."

"D-did Jase do this?"

"Don't worry about it."

"But I will." I said as we walked.

"Were you following me, again?"

"Um pst no." I lied.

"Sure." He laughed.

"I wasn't, I swear!" I laughed, pulling out a smoke.

"You smoke?" He asked.

"Yea. Why, a girl can't have one every now and then." I said, offering him one.

"Sure." He took it from me and lit it. We walked in silence but it was nice. We reached my street and I stopped.

"I'll go on from here." I said.

"It's okay, I'll walk you there." He smiled, continuing to walk with me.

"Thanks-are you bleeding?" I said as I looked down at his hand.

"Oh, well that's new." He laughed.

Gosh, his laugh was adorable.

"Come in, I'll clean and bandage it up." I said, as we reached my apartment.

"It's okay, I don't want to be a bother and it doesn't even hurt."

"No, come on." I said, climbing up the fire escape, holding out my hand for him to grab so he could get up easier.
