You think closing your eyes
will save you from hurt.
Who knows?
You think it would
make the screams
quiet down.
You think every night,
its going to be peaceful
Only to sit up
panting
in the middle of the night
After a visit of your infamous guest.
Nightmares.
You think that
by not caring
It has nothing to do with you.
But you're mad
Because you care
You care so much
that you're scared
you're heart would burst of love.
You care so much
that you try to stop them
from fighting.
But they wouldn't
they're too selfish
Even just one night
of uninterrupted sleep.
But they still wouldn't.
So you sit at the corner
rocking yourself to sleep
waking up with a tear-streaked face.
It has become a routine
Party, cry, sleep,
wake up with mascara all over.
But they still wouldn't care.
Because you're tired of being mad.
Because its drained you
to your very core.
Because you mean nothing
to them anymore.
