• Jamil is rushing back to his dorm to start dinner when he hears strange noises coming from the janitor's closet.
• "Connect... why won't you connect!" He hears you hiss from inside the closet. Your voice sounds close to breaking. The sound of your phone being thrown across the floor distracts him from his main duties.
• "Hey..." You jump when he comes in. He sits beside you on the floor, leaving a few inches of distance between you.
• "I didn't think anyone would hear me in here..." You sigh. You bury your face in your knees. "No matter what I do, my phone won't reach my own world. I don't think I'll ever hear my family's voices again."
• You sound so defeated. Not like you're about to cry or scream or panic. Just... like you have nothing left in you.
• Against his better judgment, he slides closer to you and wraps an arm around your shoulders. You gasp at the sudden contact, but lean your head on his shoulder after a second.
• "I won't lie to you and say that you'll definitely find a way home. I don't really have an idea if it's possible or not. But that doesn't mean it's hopeless. And if it is, you're always welcome at Scarabia when you need company. I won't let you be alone, regardless of what happens." He's thankful for the darkness of the closet, because his face is burning after that speech.
• "Hm. I guess if I had to be torn from everything I knew, this isn't the worst place to end up. Especially since you're here." You snuggle into his embrace and hug him back. His breath hitches.
• "Don't say something so embarrassing all of a sudden..." He pulls his hood over his face, even though you can't see it. It's a force of habit when he's flustered.
• "Hey, if I have nowhere else to go when school is over, can you find me an empty spot on Kalim's estate and set up a tent for me? You can keep me there forever and sneak me food like that one movie from my world."
• "I won't let you stay in a tent. I'll find you an unused room. You can steal food from the kitchen at night," Jamil chuckles. "They won't notice if a few million Madol worth of things go missing."
• "Sounds good. Though, I think I'd rather stay with you." His heart pounds in your ears. Your homesickness melts away in his awkward embrace.
• Kalim leisurely strolls back to his dorm after club practice. The halls are quiet and empty. He's eager to escape the sad, unpopulated building so he can get back to the liveliness he loves.
• He stops dead in his tracks when he hears sniffling coming from a janitor's closet. Someone's upset? Can't have that.
• "Hey, who's in here? Do you need help?" He asks into the closet.
• "K-Kalim!" You screech. You didn't expect to be heard. His heart sinks at your voice. You? You're the last person he wants to see upset.
• "Oh no, Y/n! What's wrong?" He rushes straight to your side and wraps you in a tight hug. You nuzzle deep into his chest to hide your tear streaked face.
• "I'm never gonna get home..." You cry. "I miss them, Kalim... my family and friends." He tenderly rubs your back.
• "That's not true! We'll find a way," he promises. "I'll... I'll get all of Scalding Sands searching for a way! I won't spare any expense!"
• "I don't know if it will be enough. If even Crowley can't figure out how to get me home, it must be way more complicated than I can understand. This might not be something money can solve."
• "T-then, I'll pay for the whole world to search!" You start giggling into his chest out of nowhere. "Huh? Y/n?"
• "You're so out of touch, Kalim." Your light giggles turn into full body laughter. "Saying that after I said money can't solve this is too funny!"
• "Eh!?" Your reaction shocks him. You slip out of his grip and fall to the floor from laughing so hard. You're gripping your stomach.
• "It hurts! My stomach hurts! Why are you so unintentionally hilarious!?" You howl. As confused as he is, your laughter makes him laugh.
• "I have no idea what I said to make you laugh so hard, but I'm glad I made you feel a little better!" You sit back up, still clutching your abdomen. The last laughs come out as painful coughs.
• "Oh my god, you're my favorite." You wrap your arms around him. "Hold me for a while, okay? You make me feel less alone." He happily obliges, holding you tight.
• "I know I can never understand your feelings, but I'm always gonna be around when you need a hug. Or a tasty meal."
• "As long as I have that, I think I'll be okay after all."
• All Vil can think about is getting some moisturizer on his face after being stuck in the dry air of his potions class. He can almost feel his skin cracking. Nothing can get between him and the best skincare products he owns.
• Except for the sound of you crying in the janitor's closet.
• "Oh dear..." He can't have his favorite potato crying to herself in a musty closet. Your eyes will get all puffy, and the skin under your nose will be raw if there's too much snot.
• "Y/n, whatever is the matter?" He cautiously approaches you in the closet. "Ugh..." He dusts away the filth on the floor before sitting next to you.
• "Great, the last person I wanted to see me like this..." You hug your knees to your chest and turn away from him.
• "If it's any consolation, I can't see you at all in here." He pulls a silk handkerchief from his breast pocket and gently grabs your chin, turning your damp face towards him. "Tell me what's wrong."
• He pats the tears away. You take a deep breath. "I'll never find my way home."
• "Don't say that. You don't know for sure." He doesn't try to lie and say he knows you'll find your way. "It hasn't been that long. Give it some time."
• "And if I don't?" You ask. Another tear trickles down. He delicately blots it away.
• "Crying doesn't suit you, my dear," he sighs. "If you don't, then I'll just have to keep taking care of you for the rest of our lives."
• "I won't have my family, but at least I'll have flawless skin," you humorlessly chuckle.
• "Your lips will never be chapped, either." With your tears drying up, he puts the handkerchief aside. He pulls you close and plants a kiss to your temple.
• "Will you buy me a house with a pool if I'm stuck here?" You ask.
• "Of course not. You'll be staying in my house. Which will, in fact, have a pool," he promises. That gets a genuine laugh from you.
• "Okay. I don't mind if you're my new family." You let him hold you for a while, only leaving when he offers to take you back to his dorm for a face mask and a smoothie.
• Idia needs to get back to his dorm as fast as possible. The halls might be empty right now, but a wild extrovert can appear at any moment. His all important mission is disrupted by the sound of swears from the janitor's closet.
• 'That's Y/n's voice...' His feet move faster than his mind. He finds you sitting on the floor of the closet, knees pulled to your chest. "U-uh, hi..."
• "Idia, you might be the only one who can help me. Is there anything you can do to get my phone connected to my world?" He sits a good foot from you on the floor.
• "Doubt it. That's the kinda quest that takes years of grinding and a seriously OP team to make work." He hears you groan.
• "Be honest, what do you think my chances of getting home are?" You ask.
• "Seems pretty impossible, tbh." He doesn't bullshit you at all. He jumps and squeaks when you start laughing.
• "So we're doing brutal honesty today. Well, should've seen that coming from you." You groan even harder. "This sucks. You know, I could really use a hug right now."
• "W-wha— From me?? D-don't you want me to call Ortho here for that?? Or anyone else??" He panics.
• "No, I don't wanna deal with someone who will give me false hope. You're the only man qualified for the job."
• "T-then, if no one else can do it..." He scoots close and loosely slings an arm around you. You respond to his awkward affection by wrapping both arms around his midsection and squeezing him tight. His breath hitches, and the pink tips of his hair are obvious in the dark. You're polite enough not to draw attention to it.
• "Hey, if we're both stuck in our fates, at least we're stuck together... ah! That line was way too cringe! Why did I say that!?"
• "No, that was a good dialogue option. I don't have anywhere else to go, so it's fine if you stow me away in STYX with you."
• "Right. We'll never have normal lives, but at least we can watch anime after work together."
• "Not much different from what I'd be doing at home, really," you joke. He subconsciously tightens his grip on you, his barriers breaking down. The two of you are doomed, but you're the only person he wants to be doomed with.
