Gabby Harpe's POV
im on my way to uni now. the bus ride is pretty boring, but my car is in the shop and there's not much i can do about it.
i decide to call my long-time best friend Sarah to see if she can come stay with me tonight.
we've been friends since we were really young, like 7 or 8.
there's always been this connection between the two of us that could never be broken. it didn't matter if we hadn't seen each other in 2 days or 2 months, we would still be able to talk for hours upon hours.
the phone rang for a minute or so until she picked up.
"hey there bitch! long time no seeeee!"
i giggled at the way she answered the phone. it reminded me of Lewis.
"yeah, sorry ive been pretty busy lately. its been rather hard to adjust to everything."
"awww im sorry girl. how are you?"
"doing okay. i mean it's hard but ill get through it i guess. how about you?"
"probably better than you! as soon as i get back, ill hit you up and we'll go out for coffee"
"what do you mean when you get back? i thought you were in town until next week?"
Sarah's mom was having some health issues so she drove up to San Diego to see her and take care of her for a while. she recently got back into town and was planning on staying here for a few days before going back to stay with mrs. DeLatore until she was fully recovered. as far as i knew she was supposed to leave in a few days.
"no, my mom had a set-back in her recovery and the doctors don't want her by herself so they called me to come up as soon as possible."
"oh wow, alright. im so sorry, i hope it works out soon and she's okay."
"she should be fine, i just need to stay with her for a while. what were you calling about, do you need something?"
"uh no it's okay. i was going to ask if you'd spend the night with me since my usual night buddy is busy with his boyfriend but that's okay, ill try to find someone else."
"aww im sorry, if i were there i'd be over in a heartbeat but sadly my mom needs me over here."
"no problem, it shouldn't be that hard to find someone, it's not like im friendless!"
i was trying to lighten the mood with a joke but we both knew it was going to be a little difficult. it takes me a while to get comfortable enough with people to let them stay over and finding someone on such short notice might cause a bit of trouble.
"alright, im sorry again, i wish i was there!"
"don't worry about it, ill be okay! im not going to impale myself if i have a problem, the friend i was talking about earlier, Lewis, already has someone hooked up for me, i just don't know him at all so im a bit hesitant to let him stay the night. no worries though, ill be fine."
she laughed and we said our goodbyes.
by the time i was off the phone , the bus was almost to the university.
i don't have that far of a commute but taking the bus is a longer trip. what with the zig-zagging route and the constant stops to let people on and off.
it had only been about 15 minutes but usually in my car it takes about 6-7.
not too big of a difference but when you're accustomed to commuting, you get used to leaving around the same time every morning.
