Gabby Harpe's POV
after the chase and tickle fest we settled in to watch a movie.
"what should we watch?"
"i don't care, it's your house. pick what you want."
i shrugged.
"okay"
i skimmed over the options. Cars, Love Actually, Pitch Perfect, She's the Man, The Italian Job, Ratatouille, Beauty and the Beast...
giggling, i popped the movie i had chosen into the disk drive and sat down on the other side of the couch from Jake.
"what'd you choose?"
i smirked, hearing the inevitable question.
"you'll see"
the opening credits started to play before the title of the movie appeared on the screen.
"seriously?! oh my gosh i love this movie!"
u stared at him incredulously.
i'd chosen Dear John.
"what? it's a good film!"
i kept staring, waiting for him to explain.
"my sister used to force me to watch it with her over and over again. eventually i grew to love it."
"oh"
he laughed at my reaction before getting up and heading to the kitchen.
i heard him call out from the kitchen, "do you want some popcorn?"
"sure"
i heard multiple cupboards open and close before i finally got up to help him find it.
"aha!"
just as i walked in he found it. he reached up to grab it, and his shirt slightly rose up, revealing a strip of his tattooed, tanned, muscular stomach.
i tried not to stare as he grabbed the popcorn and set it on the counter, fixing his shirt once he was done.
"i guess you found it. Almost ready to start the movie?"
"yeah, sure"
~
he cried.
and if a guy who shows emotion isn't my favorite thing ever, i don't know what is.
because it shows that they care. That behind all the testosterone and manly buffness, (which he honestly has a lot of) they're still sensitive and loving. caring. kind. compassionate.
and i love it.
"its okay, you know how it ends"
"yeah but that doesn't mean it's not sad or cruel of her to break his heart that way. he has no way of changing anything. he's stuck where she put him. and where she put him, hurts."
he looked directly into my eyes as he finished what he was saying.
"trust me"
"im sorry, i didn't mean to choose an upsetting movie or anything."
"no it's fine. i love the way it ends" he glanced back to the TV as he said that, checking to see what part we were at.
"okay.."
"im serious." he turned back and looked me in the eye again, "it's fine."
i tried speaking but my voice caught in my throat. those eyes...
after what felt like an eternity of me most likely looking like a fish drowning, i managed to squeak out an answer.
"alright"
he lifted his hand to tuck a piece of hair back behind my ear.
"you're very pretty. gorgeous, actually"
blushing a very vibrant red i thanked him.
"you're very handsome as well, but i like your personality too"
"thanks" he smiled, showing off his perfect teeth and sharp jawline.
he started to lean in.
"i-i"
"shhhh just relax"
my eyes grew wide as he leaned in even closer. i started to feel his breath on my face and my heart began to pound.
"shit" i pulled away from him just before our lips touched and stood up off the couch.
he looked slightly shocked and partly hurt.
"im sorry, it's just that i barely met you and i don't like to kiss people i don't know that well" i laughed awkwardly.
he smiled and i relaxed a bit.
"it's okay Gabby, i understand"
wow i could honestly listen to him say my name all day...
i smiled back at him as he stood up and grabbed the popcorn bowl on his way to the kitchen.
"ill just put this in the dishwasher, be right back."
