The Doctor watched that event quietly until he came out of the shadows and appeared on a big stone behind the crowd. "I'm here now. You can stop." The whole crowd turned around and everybody stared at him. "And who are you?", the priest asked. "I'm the doctor, nice to meet you.", he resplied grinning and winked at Rose. He had a plan, which wasn't able to fail. He looked into the faces of the aliens, who stood beside the crowd. "But before you do anything you might regret afterwards, like killing me or something, let me tell you a few things. May I have the attention of every person near? Thank you, this is important. First of all, how dare you to set a young girl on fire without giving her the possibility to stand up for herself? That's really not fair. I'm standing in front of a bunch of unfair people. You should be ashamed of yourself, seriously, you should be. I'm a friend of hers and I know that she's definitely a human. A human like al- most of you." A quick giggle left his throat. "And I don't want to offend your religion or anything like that but you know, the flames will destroy her anyway, although you asked your god to help her if she's innocent. I mean, I don't want to be the one who teachs you something about your own religion but your god won't ever encroach on something like that. And do you wanna know why? Because it's the fault of humans, who never think about what they do. Just like you. So there goes another point to your unfairness." He looked to the top of the bonfire again and started grinning happily. After that, he looked to the aliens again. "If I have to be honest, I never met one of your kind. You mask yourself as humans and you're really good at hiding sonic waves of yours. I couldn't find any, seriously, that point goes to you but do you wanna know what I just discovered? You can get distracted easily, just like humans. And that's why I appreciate humans that much." The Doctor quickly nodded to the bonfire and started grinning even harder, as the aliens noticed that Rose wasn't on the top of it anymore. In the second, that the aliens and the crowd turned around to check on the bonfire, he started running in the opposite direction. He knew exactly where to run and passed a few alleys as he ran back to the little drapery where he had bought the cloth for hiding the TARDIS. As he entered, he saw the young lady trying to calm the crying Rose. "Rose!", the Doctor screamed and ran towards her and hugged her laughing happily. "I'm so happy I got you back! Kate, thank you so much!" Kate nodded smiling. "I'm against burning innocent women only because people don't accept their skills, so of course I helped."

The Doctor has asked her for help, after he had found out that they were going to burn Rose as a witch and she has consented to help him. As the Doctor has talked to the crowd, Kate has found a way up to the bonfire without getting burned, to free Rose, and afterwards she has brought her to her little drapery.

The Doctor was aglow with happiness as he hugged his Rose, but he also got kinda worried about her because of the things that the aliens had done to her. "Rose, I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have let you out alone. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." Suddenly he pulled himself out of the hug, laid his hand on her cheeks and pulled her face closer to look directly into her eyes. "Are you okay? Did you get hurt? Did the aliens tell you what they want? They want to get to me, don't they?"
